Jays To Sign Next Ankiel?

Orioles president Andy MacPhail said he expects free agent Adam Loewen to sign with the Blue Jays.
"I think Toronto is going to sign him," said MacPhail. "I don't know if it's a done deal, but I've been led to believe that is where it's headed." Just another disappointment for the Orioles. Loewen is a long shot to amount to anything as an outfielder, but Baltimore was expecting to retain him.

No, he will not be anything close to Ankiel but who knows. After another fracture in his elbow, Loewen decided to give up pitching and focus on making it as an OFer. It would make a great story for the Jays if he could make it back to the big leagues as an OFer.

Blue Jays signed outfielder Adam Loewen to a minor league contract.
Loewen decided against staying with the organization that's invested a huge amount of time and significant money in him while getting very little in return. Instead, he's returning to his native Canada. The 24-year-old former first-round pick will likely begin his career as a position player at Single-A Dunedin or Double-A New Hampshire.

Its official now! Kevin Mench was designated for assignment today as well.
