The Official Site of Major League Baseball: News: Jays release unhappy Thomas
I have to say I'm a little surprised by this, especially with the money he's making...but I"m sure some AL team will take a flyer on him as DH. Minnesota perhaps?

I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
I would imagine someone will pick him up. Like, maybe the Royals, Rangers, A's, maybe even the Rays.
That way he could go from a Jay to a Ray.
I was shocked but then again I wasn't. He wasn't hitting at all and the Jays could use someone else on their roster. Can't see him going to the Rays since they just picked up Dan Johnson. Twins could use him. Rangers don't need him as they are full at DH. Royals have Butler at DH so I can see the Twins and possibly a return to the A's but highly doubtful. It will be a sad end to a career if no one picks him up.
true. It would be a sad end to a very good career. But he has turned out to be kind of a clubhouse cancer.
someone will pick him up. why not? they can sign him dirt cheap since the Jays were dumb enough to just outright release him.
he always starts off slow too, so you think they would have given him another 60 at bats before trying to bench him, based on his track record. looks like the blue jays played this one pretty badly.

Blue Jays have tons of DH material so Thomas won't be missed.
I just wonder how fast it will take before some other club adds him to there roster.

You find me a GM who wants to that kind of money for a 39 yr old DH in the twilight of his career who holds a $10 million option for next year and I will show you a sucker. I am sure they made some calls and were laughed at.
Frank Thomas wasn't cut because he was slumping. He was cut because he was running his mouth. It's the same reason the White Sox decided to cut ties with him. And it very well may be the reason why nobody picks him up.

Pittsburgh Pirates Record: 3-2. 1st NL Central
If he was running his mouth he has nothing to say since he has done nothing to start the year.

He obviously feels entitled to say whatever he wants, he did this with the white sox, it's not exactly a surprise. I hope Tampa does not sign him, personally, they did great getting rid of headcases and distractions the last couple of offseasons and they have Cliff Floyd as the token veteran DH type.

Thomas' option couldn't have kicked in until he made 365 AB this season, then he opened his mouth and started whining, so long Frank I won't miss you
Shannon Stewart can DH if needed too, maybe this actually make room for Adam Lind to return.
Scott Rolen is getting closer to return and maybe use him as the DH for a first bit
