Report: Jays sign OF Shannon Stewart

    TSN : MLB - Canada's Sports Leader
The Globe and Mail is reporting that Shannon Stewart is on his way back to the Blue Jays after signing a minor-league contract with the club with an invitation to Spring training.

The 34-year old outfielder hit .290 with 12 homeruns and 48 RBI last season with the Oakland Athletics.

Stewart was originally selected 19th overall by the Blue Jays in the 1992 draft. The Jays traded him to the Minnesota Twins in 2003 with a player to be named later for outfielder Bobby Kielty.
how many former A's will J.P. Ricciardi get? Forget that Stewart was a former Jay, that J.P. traded, only reason he got Stewart was because he played for the A's last season.

and he's a bat off the bench at this point in his career, hopefully he finally will realize it.

Stewart might find some magic going back to Toronto for one more year. I like the move especially if someone goes down for a month or two.

Another low-risk, potentially high reward signing.
Shannon Stewart still has a lot of energy, although his skills are diminishing. He could give the Jays a couple of good games a week and a bat off the bench.
