This will make the return of A.J. Burnett and even better news will be the end of Josh Towers in the rotation and will be put in the bullpen, which will make this even better by possibility knock Jason Frasor down to AAA.

    Re: Blue Jays (58-56) @ Royals (50-64) - 6/10-6/13 - Burnett's return

On Saturday, Alex Gordon went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and a pair of runs scored as Kansas City topped Toronto, 4-1, to even this weekend set.

The Royals' Leo Nunez (2-0) was impressive in his third major-league start, as he allowed one run and two hits with four strikeouts and three walks in six innings of work.

Joey Gathright had two hits, drove in a run and scored once for the Royals, who have won three of five. David DeJesus added a sacrifice fly and Mark Teahen hit safely twice.

Dustin McGowan (8-6) took the loss for Toronto, getting tagged for six hits and four runs -- three earned -- over 6 1/3 innings.

Gregg Zaun homered for the Blue Jays, whose two-game win streak came to an end. Troy Glaus had two hits and Vernon Wells doubled in defeat.

Toronto has won three of five meetings with the Royals this season and seven of the last 10 matchups in the overall series.
Tough loss to take, especially when you get the 1st run of the game just to lose the game.

A.J. Burnett is making his return tonight, I'm looking forward to that.

Blue Jays place RHP Brandon League on the 15-day DL to make room for Burnett on the roster

Blue Jays placed RHP Brandon League on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 5, with a strained oblique.
He probably would have been sent down if not for the injury. League had given up five runs and 13 hits in 6 2/3 innings since returning from a shoulder injury four weeks ago.

    Jays won 4-1 tonight

A.J Burnett was great in his return going 7.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, and 5 SO, he was on a pitch count of 90.

Lyle Overbay went 3 for 5 with 2 double and 2 RBI.

Closer Jeremy Accardo earned his 22nd save of the year tonight, almost hard to believe Hillenbrand was traded for him.

For the Royals Alex Gordon hit another HR for his 10th of the season.

    Updating for Monday's game

Monday August 13th, Kauffman Stadium, 8:10 PM ET, RSN

    Blue Jays (59-57) @ Royals (51-65)
Jesse Litsch, RHP (4-4, 3.64) vs Odalis Perez, LHP (6-11, 5.87)

    Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: Litsch's performance since being recalled from Triple-A convinced the Jays to keep the rookie in the rotation upon A.J. Burnett's return from the disabled list. Since being called up in late June, Litsch has gone 3-2 with a 2.21 ERA in six outings. In his last start, on Aug. 6, the right-hander was in line for a win when he exited, but wound up with a no-decision when Toronto's bullpen surrendered the lead to the Yankees. Litsch was charged with three runs on six hits over five innings against New York. He's 2-2 with 2.51 ERA on the road this year.

Royals: Perez, pitching in muggy 91-degree heat on Wednesday night, wilted in just three innings. Although he was behind, 6-0, the Royals reported he left the game because of leg soreness. The Twins sent 10 batters to the plate in the third, with Michael Cuddyer hitting a 442-foot blast ? the 14th homer against Perez this season. Three of the six runs against him were unearned. The Royals have lost in six of his last eight starts.

Holy shit we can't hit on the road. 9 runs in 4 games against the damn ROYALS! WTF? two runs against Odalis ''5.87 ERA'' Perez!?!?!?!?!?!? Also, out of the five runs given up by litsch, three were unearned. Damn, this is frustrating.
