The Jays chose to keep Josh freakin' Towers and give him ever chance in the world and has been really bad this season (except for 1 start), Thomson got jerked around so much because of the contract he was offered, Thomson would have got 1 million if called up to the majors and his base salary was $500,000, compared to Towers 2+ million salary.

Also with McGowan looking like the #3 pitcher of the staff now and Shaun Marcum stepping up his game so much too (8 GS, 3-0, 2.45 ERA as a starter), those two made spots for themselves in the rotation. Basically the 1-4 spots are spoken for now.

Still the 5th spot as always been open and Towers was handed the damn job out spring training and has done nothing with it but John Gibbons and J.P. Ricciardi keep giving Towers start after start. The guy should have been released long ago.

Only one pitcher can over take Towers right and that's Chacin who's injured.

Well, at least when Chacin is ready to return the Jays will have a pretty deep rotation.
