CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Training camp is four weeks old and not much has changed.
There still is two open spots at the back of the Blue Jays rotation.
At this point, with just over two weeks left, things usually start to resolve themselves.
But not this spring. Instead of getting clearer, it's getting muddier.
In past springs, somebody gets hurt, but so far everybody is as healthy as a horse.
In past springs, somebody drops out of the race because they are getting hammered, but so far the lone dull outing by any of the candidates was right-hander John Thomson's effort Wednesday against the Cleveland Indians when he was pounded for six runs on five hits, including three home runs. It was Thomson's third start of the spring following two stellar outings.
Roy Halladay has been aces. A.J. Burnett looked to be in complete control last time out. Left-hander Gustavo Chacin is working hard at speeding up between pitches and lowering his pitch count. He has looked just fine.
They are the Blue Jays 'Big Three' and so far, so good.
