BLUE JAYS 1, RED SOX 0
    at Dunedin, Fla.
    Tuesday, March 13
    Red Sox at the plate:
Boston managed six hits, but it was unable to score a run for the second time this spring. The Red Sox had runners on first and third base with no outs in the sixth, but Toronto righty Casey Janssen retired the side to end the threat.
Blue Jays at the plate: Infielder Jason Smith, who Toronto picked up in December's Rule 5 Draft, kept his hot streak going, collecting a double in three at-bats. For the spring, Smith is hitting .476 (10-for-21). John McDonald chipped in an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Red Sox on the mound: Right-hander Kyle Snyder turned in three scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. Snyder threw 47 pitches -- 27 for strikes -- and he gave up a pair of hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Blue Jays on the mound: Starter A.J. Burnett struck out five Boston hitters in a four-inning outing for the Jays. The right-hander walked two, yielded one hit and threw 62 pitches, including 37 strikes.
Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 7-7-1; Blue Jays 5-7-1.
Up next: Toronto right-hander Tomo Ohka is scheduled to start the home half of a split-squad game against Cleveland at 1:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Knology Park in Dunedin, Fla. Blue Jays righty John Thomson is slated to take the mound on the road against the Indians at 12:35 p.m. at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Fla.
Boston left-hander Kason Gabbard and righty Julian Tavarez are each scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox in a 1:05 p.m. ET home tilt against Pittsburgh at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla. Lefty Zach Duke will take the mound for the Pirates.
