Canadian Press photographer Aaron Harris indicated that Monday's skirmish between Jays manager John Gibbons and Ted Lilly was initiated by Gibbons.
The incident took place in the tunnel leading to the clubhouse. "Gibbons just went at him," Harris said. "It looked like Gibbons grabbed him and they disappeared. Then the whole dugout emptied back there. It was mayhem down in the tunnel." If this is really mostly Gibbons' fault, then it's probably time for the Jays to change managers. Gibbons also failed to handle the Shea Hillenbrand situation well at all.

you know, there are better options in how to handle that situation than how he did it. You know, like suspend him for conduct detrimental, skip his turn in the rotation. challenging your players to fights is pretty far down the "how not to lead" category.

John Gibbons is hilarious. Not only is he a terrible in-game manager, he likes to challenge his players to fights when he's not busy making shitty substitutions (not this one in particular, this one was fine).

I can see why Lilly was upset (any pitcher should be), but man, no matter what Lilly says, why the hell go try to fight him

Lilly should know his place from the start, if you want to voice your dis-pleasure, Lilly should have done it after the game behind closed doors, face to face with Gibbons, and keep it in the clubhouse rather in public.

If the fighting is true, well I can't defend Gibbons or Lilly there, that's their fault.

Both guys are at fault, we need to get rid of Gibbons though and bring in a real manager that doesnt get into fights. He wanted to get into a fight with Shea and now he gets into one with Ted. Its obvious that he is the real problem and he + starting pitching is whats holding us back...

If this were Ozzie Guillen instead of John Gibbons, everyone would be sucking on Guillen's dick saying how much Guillen does things differently and is not afraid to speak his mind and get in his players' faces and how he's such a great manager etc .
