I'd like to bring this thread back from the old board, for the main purpose of the newbies. It has gotten to me that some GMs have gone back to the adding of stars to determine if a trade is fair.
I think this needs to be addressed. I will post some links and give you some advice myself.
First, you do not add up stars to determine a fair trade. Example:
Team A trades:
CL Soso 5.0 Stars
Team B trades:
RP Soca 2.0 Stars
3B Socb 2.0 Stars
2B Socc 2.0 Stars
Newbie says, "Fair!"
I say, "No!"
Here's the value system:
5.0 Stars
4.0 Stars
3.0 Stars
2.0 Stars
1.0 Stars
I would not trade a 5.0 prospect for a 3.0 star and 2.0 star player. This wouldn't make any sense, because the the higher the stars the better the ratings. The better chance of the player producing more. To all people, when your discussing trades don't get pissed than all of a sudden sign off like some immature managers have done to myself. Trade talk is trade talk.
Here's some links that I think may clue you in on oopt:

Look around this message board and see what you can learn from people
Now anyone can add to this. Now maybe, just maybe, some newbies will take my advice and stop being immature about things.
