    Draft 2019 Amateur Draft Discussion

This is where draft discussion should go. Thanks!

and yes, the draft isn't as deep as it was even last season. This is intentional. There is too much talent in the league that resulted from deep draft after deep draft. I am no longer editing the draft, but use the creation modifiers. I raised them in 2017, lowered slightly in 2018, and lowered them again for 2019. It's still deeper than if the modifiers were at 0.

Is there any way to adjust the hitting and pitching modifiers differently?

A 3.5P hitter is still a pretty good player. A 3.5P SP is nearly worthless unless he gets some talent boosts.

Well, this should slow the tanking a bit.

the modifiers have nothing to do with that. the modifiers just increase the base ratings that computer would give by a %. For example you can increase contact by 12% (whatever % you choose with the default being 0). Every category is above the default setting right now...so it could be worse lol.

The whole 3.5 spec thing is just the computer comparing all of the specs to each other. Of course a 3.5 SP spec will be "worse" than a 3.5 spec hitter because there is more hitting talent than pitching talent. It's like that in every league really. For example there are more 5.0 hitter specs than 5.0 SP specs.

I would have to raise the creation modifiers for pitchers astronomically to get a lot of top SP specs, which isn't what I want in any scenario. I'm trying to get things back to a normal base as there is too much talent in the league right now...there has been for a while now.

I really liked the previous drafts, good talent but not really over the top like Crazy's leagues. I think everyone has a lot of talent, except for the cubs, so I don't see it as a big issue. The ERAs might be inflated some, but if you think about it, we have about as many great performing starting pitchers as real life and I don't see a problem with closers. Look at the world series reps, browntown had like 2.5 starting pitchers total and isn't overloaded with talent and bwitty's team is good but not oozing with great talent.. they're fairly realistic in a sense.

that is true. I stated a while ago that the draft class wouldn't be bumped up all the time though. some people complained about the deep drafts, too. maybe it will be edited next year, maybe it won't be. It will be a surprise and like Saber said, hopefully dissuade people from tanking.

I'd toss the tankers in the Ned Yost pool.

Oh, I'm sure I'll get a weak talent. But the key now is the proper rationing and valuation of the current talent. Donald Valentino just got more valuable without doing anything.

Lets lay of the Cubbies. I don't have a big pay roll, but I've only had three losing seasons as a GM. 2007, 2009, and 2013 (which was a fluke weird year where I went 80-82).
