Draft Contraction and Amateur Draft Order

This is the order for both the contraction draft and the amateur draft (before traded picks). There will be no trading of contraction picks. You can still trade amateur picks.

All players on the Brewers and Dodgers are available to draft, HOWEVER, just like FA/trading if you don't have enough available free agent money, then you cannot pick the player. For example:

You, team X, have $6 mil available for FA and want to draft player A, but he makes $7 mil per year...well, you can't do it. So keep that in mind.

Picks will not be made here. I'm just posting the order. Tie breakers are, in order: home record, away record, extra innings record, and then record in one run games. It usually doesn't go beyond home record, but it went to extra innings in one case.

Once the game is rolled over to 2017 tomorrow night, I will post a date for a live contraction draft. There will be no board draft for this because it will take forever and a day. I will auto for those that are not there. I will not accept lists for this as it is a bonus and would probably get too complicated. I haven't decided how many rounds we'll go. It will probably be 3 round tops with the rest being released into the general free agent pool.

I will also begin working on the amateur class, but will not make a thread for that until after the contraction draft.

    Here is the order:

    01. TEX
    02. SD
    03. DET
    04. NY (A)
    05. PHI
    06. AZ
    07. WAS
    08. TOR
    09. CIN
    10. CLE
    11. SF
    12. KC
    13. BOS
    14. BAL
    15. SEA
    16. OAK
    17. HOU
    18. ATL
    19. MIN
    20. CHI (N)
    21. COL
    22. NY (N)
    23. PIT
    24. ANA
    25. CHI (A)
    26. FLO
    27. TB
    28. STL

Re: Contraction and Amateur Draft Order

Would you at least accept a list from me for my 1st pick since it would be all of 2 players?

Considering I work nights odds are I won't be able to be here for the live draft.

Interesting strategy to decide on the contraction draft. Pick a star with a big contract, a cheap young guy, or a stud prospect?

sorry Leo, no lists. I'd just auto you a stud SP spec anyway since you're rebuilding.

Yes, strategy will be the key.

But I'm not sure if I'd want to go that way or not.

    It depends on who's available.

Re: Contraction and Amateur Draft Order

sorry, I won't be taking lists. I will announce the date for the live draft tonight after the extensions/arby cuts deadline. I'm not trying to be a dick, but if I let you send one after I said no lists, then more people will send them and no one will show up for the live draft. Doing on the board would slow everything down because this needs to be done before anything else in 2017.

I understand doing it on the board would be slow, but I don't understand why you can't take lists.

I'd just be sore to not get the guy I'd want when my list would be so simple and odds are I'll be at work for whatever time you pick for the draft....unless it's on a weekend.

Re: Contraction and Amateur Draft Order

yea, your list would be simple what about people that send lists beyond because I allowed to?

edit: all I could do really is start a board draft that would lead up to the live draft, but I am not PMing people and staying on top of it like I do for the amateur draft. I'm trying to make things easier for me since I'm the one running this. It's impossible to accommodate every single GM here.

I think a Board Draft leading up to the live draft is a good idea. We'll leave it to the people who make the picks to PM the next person, not you. Worst case is we get a few picks and then someone doesn't bother to make a pick and you get a 3-4 pick head start on the live draft.

    Sounds like a good idea.

Can't wait to see if anyone takes a flyer on Billingsley, Garland, or Young.

Delmon Young? At least he's only 31. Pujols on the other hand...

Also, teams can pass on a pick if they want. For example if there's nothing you want left in the 3rd round except guys with salaries, you can pass. I'm not going to force people to take someone.

Re: Contraction and Amateur Draft Order

On some of these contracts, if there's an extension listed is that already signed? Or is that what they're looking for?

I'm pretty sure it means it's already signed, but I figured that'd just be reflected in the actual contract.
