    Cubs 2016 Chicago Cubs

    SS, Aaron Villegas
    MR, Oscar Villarreal
    C, Jordan Newton
    3B, Tripper Johnson

Okay as I'm not quite back from my trip, and limited internet access I have a Villegas procedure.

    - If he has an asking price, offer him one more year then he wants. If he says no, just sign him to his asking price.

    - If he says in prime test market, offer: $17.5 per for 5 years

    - If he says he wants more money offer $18.5 per for 5. If he wants more years instead of more money offer $18.2 per for 7.

If at any point the ice gets thin offer $22.3 per for 6 years.

Villegas signed for $18.49 mil x 5 years

    Villarreal - $3.03 mil x 2 years
    Newton - $2.87 mil x 2 years
    Johnson - $2.05 mil x 2 years

FYI - you have just under $7 mil available for extensions after the Villegas signing.

Question, how did Homer Bailey hit FA when I believe I had him at AAA all year? Just wondering if you can solve that mystery for me. Because if I had him up at any point, I'd imagine he would have pitched.

Either way could you just check to see if he'll take an MLC.

while you were on vacation Bailey was called up because you had injuries. Check "all transactions" on your team page. He accumulated 15 service days this year (the time one of your relievers was on the DL) and that put him over 6 years, which is the time needed to become a FA. I called him up because he already had a salary instead of calling up a spec. I wasn't going to let your team sit there and rot like that. I guess he didn't pitch at all, but he was on the roster for 15 days.

He wants $980k x 2 years. And there is no way for me to edit his service time. Apparently, you have no extension or FA money...

Crap, oh well. I totally understand why you did it, and it was the right move. It's unlikely he'll fill out, but I wanted to give him one more shot in my rotation after he boosted. I'm not sure what happened to my money. I had like $5 mil available, but that happens sometimes.

Though if I cut someone through arby right now, would that free up any money?

yea, arbitration estimates must have increased. if you cut an arby guy, then the extension money would increase. Really, I didn't even check his service time so I apologize for that, but like I said I didn't want to call up any prospects and start their clocks and add to your payroll.
