Yeah, but who ever had the team had the whole season to make an offer before they up and left. I understand where you are coming from with the whole new GM looking to take over a new franchise, but should the rest of us active GM's be penalized because 1 inactive GM skipped out?

And whats to say this inactive GM didn't offer him a renewal and he Turned it down. I know it has happened to me with a much less significant player in his finally year that wanted to just move on.

In a way I was kinda penalized with him being on the market because had I not made what I thought was a fair offer to him I would have put my money elsewhere with players I may have had a better chance to sign.

Of course, that's mainly my fault, but still.

    I'm still sore.

That could still easily happen to me. I put so much into trying to get him signed when I probably could have spent much less on Adam Dunn and still had more money to spend elsewhere. It is kinda too late for that now. I might as well give this greedy bastard the shit load of money I am offering since 99% of the other free agents I would have targeted are signed by other teams.

I don't recall orangebleeder or whatever his name is being active at all...maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. plus we lost half the season and that was auto simmed. Perhaps Tex wouldn't even talk for some reason. Seems like he would have with his minimal desire for a winner and team loyalty. it doesn't really matter at this point I guess, but I'm just saying IMHO he should have been resigned to a team that was basically GM-less.

I understand your point and like you said it is done and over with. Someone will get him and have to pay a pretty penny and have him locked up for a while when he does finally sign. Like I said I put so much into trying to sign him I neglected others that maybe would have been an even better fit, but that is also in the past and I can't do anything about that because most of the other players I would have targeted are long gone and signed. So here I sit with a shitload of money on the table for someone that better be a longtime ALL Star 1B .

Guidry really solidifies my rotation, I thought for sure I would lose out on him. Quisenberry is a huge spending for a reliever, I wish he would have signed with me after the first round when I was leading the campaign. I thought I was pushing his price tag at 8.5 mil.

I tried resigning both Tex and Halladay, but they both wanted to play for a different team. I don't remember the exact reasoning that they gave. I jsut remember that they wouldn't resign.

The difference between the 2 is not $7 mil IMHO. Dibble is an even better deal at $4.5 mil and he's 10,8,10. All of them are 27 years old, too.
Dibble was a hell of a bargain. He's only slightly older than Quiz and every bit as good. He took less than what I offered, cause I offered too many years, damn him!

And I thought I was over paying at 6.7 too.

I'm happy to have spent 7 million on Rogers and Duch. And Rogers can also be in my rotation. Really really wanted Dibble though.
