    Padres Padres offseason trade block

    MR Brad Lidge
    C Jorge Torres
    SP Roy Oswalt
    1B Ryan Howard
    SP Jose "Snake" Munoz
    2B/SS/3B Marcos Vechionacci

    Looking for prospects.

Preferably prospects that will be ready in a year or two.

(I'll take what I can get for Oswalt's albatross contract.)

I'm not expecting to get any real offers for him, but I figured I'd throw him on the list just in case.

I'm not going to give up any stud prospects to get him off my roster, though, because he's off the books next season.

If I don't get any offers for him (which I don't really expect to) I'm content with just riding out his salary through 2015 and parting ways with him in 2016.

On a side note: Did somebody actually sign Oswalt to that ridiculous sum? Or was that an auto thing from when San Diego wasn't controlled by anyone?

I'll pay Lidge's salary if it gets me a good prospect in return.

you can only send a portion of a salary as outline in the FAQ...you, however, have no money to send. you have negative "cash" as you can see on your financial report.

Well, I just learned 2 things.

    - I should re-read through the FAQ
    - I assumed what I'm paying Lidge would be what I'd be giving.

    Re: Padres offseason trade block

regarding #2, unfortunately the game doesn't work that way...if you trade Lidge, the other team will be on the hook for his salary. If you send money, the game takes it out of "cash"...that's the only way the game does it. It's not my rule, but how the game works. So if you have $0 or less, you can't send any. As it is, I'll have to edit your cash to $0 once the draft rolls around because the game takes the signing bonus money from cash as well...and if you have less than $0 it won't let you draft players with huge signing bonuses like your 1st rounder will have.

after this season you should be golden as far as not being in debt like that. Just draft and develop guys for now until you have some money. Trade your older guys for specs and such...that's what I would do anyway. I'm not trying to tell you how to run your team, but due to the financial restraints you are sort of limited.

redsr's spending spree was like Dirty Kash with his $30 mil Vlad Guerrero contract.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

That was pretty much my train of thought.

The problem is, nobody wants my older guys because they're overpaid.

But, as you said, the good thing is the worst contracts are off the books after this year so I pretty much just have to ride the storm in 2015 and develop prospects.
