Obviously, I'm not going to do anything unless the majority of the league was in favor of it, but what do you guys think of possibly moving a team or two into a different division? The only reason I've been thinking about it is because I think it would be fair for everyone if all of the divisions had the same number of teams (i.e. we'd all have the same chance of making the playoffs). Now, there are a few issues with this (clearly!).
One issue is that there would 15 teams in each league. That would mean that we would have to institute interleague play because otherwise a team in each league would have 3 or 4 days off because they wouldn't be able to play anyone. That would create another issue (same as in real life) that teams would not be playing the same teams as other teams due to the interleague play. Another issue that I'm not sure about would be making the schedule.
Regardless, I figured I'd open it up to a vote and if it is something people are in favor of, then I'd worry about trying to actually implement it.
For reference my ideas as far as moving a team include the following:
1) Change a National League Central team to a western city of that person's choice (say Sacramento or Las Vegas for example) and moving them to the American League West.
or
2) Move a National League Central team to the National League West (Houston would be a logical choice) and move a National League West team to the American League West.
No teams from the AL/NL East, AL Central, or AL West would move, but certainly all would be impacted by such a move to some degree. Please vote and feel free to post your thoughts on this idea.
