OK...don't kill me...it's just an idea!

Obviously, I'm not going to do anything unless the majority of the league was in favor of it, but what do you guys think of possibly moving a team or two into a different division? The only reason I've been thinking about it is because I think it would be fair for everyone if all of the divisions had the same number of teams (i.e. we'd all have the same chance of making the playoffs). Now, there are a few issues with this (clearly!).

One issue is that there would 15 teams in each league. That would mean that we would have to institute interleague play because otherwise a team in each league would have 3 or 4 days off because they wouldn't be able to play anyone. That would create another issue (same as in real life) that teams would not be playing the same teams as other teams due to the interleague play. Another issue that I'm not sure about would be making the schedule.

Regardless, I figured I'd open it up to a vote and if it is something people are in favor of, then I'd worry about trying to actually implement it.

For reference my ideas as far as moving a team include the following:

    1) Change a National League Central team to a western city of that person's choice (say Sacramento or Las Vegas for example) and moving them to the American League West.

    or

    2) Move a National League Central team to the National League West (Houston would be a logical choice) and move a National League West team to the American League West.

No teams from the AL/NL East, AL Central, or AL West would move, but certainly all would be impacted by such a move to some degree. Please vote and feel free to post your thoughts on this idea.

I vote Yes. First of all, I want interleague play. Second of all, I always think it's ridiculous to have 16 teams in one league and 14 teams in another, with divisions of 4 and 6 respectively anyway. So as long as you don't move the Brewers or Cardinals to the AL it's fine with me.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

well, I'm not sure who would move or anything like that...I'm not at that stage of planning yet. I want to see if people would be for a move first. If people are for it, I'd probably open discussions with the teams in the NL Central and NL West to see if there is anyone that is interested in moving.

edit: did you actually vote brownie or no? it wasn't showing that you did.

Good idea in theory, extremely difficult to work out in practice. If you want to realign, why not expansion and reformatting of division? 4 divisions per league, 4 teams apiece for a total of 32 teams. The drawback would be that you would HAVE to win your division to make the playoffs, but the upside is that everything works out far more evenly and we can bring in two more GMs.

The main issue with the idea is whether it might **** up your OOTP game. Crazy contracted two teams and it caused some problems with the league file and eventually the file was corrupted and this led to the first SBSL lockout.

that is another idea Dam...but I have a feeling I'm already going to have a few teams to replace as it is. I think I'd lean towards keeping things as they are before I expanded.

BTW, are you staying for next season Dam? You haven't checked in yet.

edit: yea...didn't think of that mofo...I certainly don't want that happening I'd probably quit...

I thought I'd just add that I probably wouldn't do this idea unless I had at least 75%, probably over 80%, yes votes...I don't want to do something major like this if almost half the league doesn't want it.

Also, even if I do get the yes vote % that I'm aiming for, doesn't mean it will end up happening either.

You might want to sticky that Check-In thread. I've been keeping up with the league on a regular basis and didn't even know it was there.

Eh, wouldn't be a bad thing, only problem is, and I would be willing to move to the AL West, I suppose.

As long as you had a backup file, in case it corrupted it, so if it didn't work, we just go on, as is.

I'd avoid doing 15 teams in each league, you'll have schedule problems. I'd also avoid the league becoming SBSL and having hokey city/mascot names.

I don't really like it really. It could work in theory, but I just don't like it that much. That's just my opinion though. I'm gonna vote no personally.

I accidentally clicked don't have a prefference... I meant to vote no. Oh well. If it's a close poll, my vote was intended to go to no but I ****ed up somehow.

I'm going to vote no just because I worry about the league file being f***ed up like in the mentioned past league. I do think it be a nice idea to have interleague play though.

Im gonna vote no just because of the previous problems that helped lead to the downfall of SBSL. If you get a new league going and run some tryout leagues and it works so be it I'll switch my vote but there's just too many problems with the schedule in my experience to be fiddling with number of teams in each league.
