Renteria serves as a stop gap SS that I hope can step up his play and be the top of the order guy I need. Not sure whether I'm going to try and resign him yet.

At the very least Renteria gives me much better defense at ss and allows me to wait a little longer on Smith who will probably be up and starting at 2b sometime this season.
