I know it seems like a pointless trade, but Lopez is due to get more expensive and I have a better (IMHO) option at AAA in Travis "I'll develop when I feel like it" Hanson. He's been gaining ratings like crazy since he lost prospect status 2 years ago. Same contact basically, more power, slightly better D (same positions, too), and average speed. He'll be cheaper after this season and controlled for a while. He's a slight improvement and Cruz gives me some flexibility in the OF...send Bigbie back to AAA probably...no arby for him either. Cruz and Hanson will give me two solid bats off the bench for Lopez essentially. I love this trade because of that reason alone. If I didn't have Hanson, I probably wouldn't do it.
