San Diego: Tim Stauffer available

SAN DIEGO- The day was calm and the relatively slow until GM redsrbetter walked in the door. He let us all in on a little secret.

"Today I have put Tim Stauffer on the trading block."

He announced. Normally he does not go out on a limb and let the entire league know what he is up to. But nevertheless, he has said it. So, of course we asked him who he was looking to acquire for the young stud.

"The Padres are not in contention this season. They need a future in the corner infield positions. We are looking at both veterans and young MLB talent to man those positions next season. Their contracts are a bit of concern, but not as much as usual. We do not want to overpay per say, but we will take on a hefty contract for the right player."

So thats it. Tim Stauffer for a 3B and or 1B. This is going to get real interesting.

Cubs would offer (1B) Joey Bilbao or (3B) Tripper Johnson. That's all I got because Stauffer is NOT worth anything near Pena so don't ask.
