I feel I made the right choice...Mission said he was going to pick him if I didn't and Dave wanted him, too...but I wanted one of the top two 3rd baseman, too. When General took Kidman I was conflicted of whether I should take Church or Aldean...I really, really wanted Aldean, too...when I first looked at the draft and my position that was the 1st guy that stuck out to me that should have been available for me...so when he was, I wanted to take him, but my gut was telling me I couldn't leave Church there since he fell to me.

When I picked Jacobs I considered Church, too...I went with Jacobs since he has 4 pitches, was a little younger, and rated higher...so I'm happy I got both. And I got a decent 3B in the 2nd round IMHO.

I have a decent SP to replace Sabathia if I trade him or lose him to FA.... not much in stuff (6) but tons of pitches, great control, and great movement....

Not happy with the 1Bman from the 2nd round.. .so he is instantly on the trade block, considering I have Sierra waiting to fill that spot on the ML roster

My draft was pretty well. I traded my first pick for Mark White and the 2nd second round pick giving me two second rounders (2nd and 12th). Mark White is good for my team because he isn't yet ready nor do I need him right now. With the 2nd pick I was able to get Brendan Clark who looks like a pretty solid reliever. Then I got a second reliever in Robins with the 12th pick. The two relievers will be a great addition to the roster in a couple of years with Jose Ortiz, Matt Williams, Duaner Sanchez, and Chad Cordero.

Alex Fernandez. Meh, I'm not all that pleased. I wanted Lanky or Avery

Not like A-Fern will crack the rotation anytime soon.

I liked Church, but he wouldve never done well in my park. Cause of that low GB %

Church is all potential at this point, which is part of why I opted for Nagy. Adam Smith still haunts me.

they're all potential as there wasn't 1 player in the draft at their talent level. Church will just take a longer to develop and that's fine because I'm not in a rush. Church has better talent ratings than Avery so the 10% difference is made up for IMHO...he'll strike out more guys, too.

    1) I dislike pitchers that have movement as their low rating.
    2) I picked Austin Myers (underdeveloped with superior talent) over Adam Smith last year, which completely backfired.

That's why I didn't pick him. If I were in your position, however, I would've taken a chance on him, as he was better than anything available talent wise.

I just got a memo from Adam Smith, he says thanks for passing on him, he really loves Anaheim .

That's all nice and dandy about the potential. I wasnt trying to attack Church really at all. A low GB % really does shitty in my park. So I won't even touch a pitcher without their GB % being near or higher than 60, with a 1st round pick or in free agency. Just sayin. thats all.

whatever...there are no perfect players in the draft and I think I got the 2 best players that were left when my picks came up.

edit: Oh, and ultimately Jacobs was a throw-in as part of the Halladay trade, which breaks down as follows:

    Louisville gets:
SP Roy Halladay and his $ 10,680,000 for 3 years

    Providence gets:
CF Matthew McBride MLC (10,10,7,9,9 with 7 speed and 9 range in center)
    SP Evan Jacobs MLC (10,8,8,10)

And Church is only 20 years old...plenty of time to develop

    P Gabriel Apodaca
    P Ronald Renken
    1B Tino Martinez

Missing those players from my team. Tino was my 21st pick, Apodaca and Renke were the 11th and 21st pick in the 2nd round.

Pretty much my entire draft sucked. With the exception of Beilisle my entire draft is on the trade block.
