I thought you didn't plan on signing him just to trade him?

    Hey Crazy,

What about those players signed to a 1 yr deal? I know many of us signed players on 1 yr deals expecting them to finish with the team, but if the deadline comes and I am out of it I want a chance to get something for guys like Yushiro. I liked bwitty's idea of July 1 or the All Star game or maybe restrict MLBers for spects to start after this season since we have already seen some this year?

Im not in the league but would like to chime in if thats okay... I think a July 1st deadline would be the best for the very reason above. A team should be accountable for part of the contract they sign a player to but for teams who sign a player to a 1-year deal and then have the oppurtunity to deal that player if they are not in contention, they should be able to receive something in return if they have that option.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Ok....a July 1st deadline is fine for players that signed 1 year deals. The only problem that I see is that it will only give the team a week at the most to trade the player. We sim daily, and the period of 7/1-7/31 will go very quickly. Let's make it June 1st for 1 year deals. Those aren't the players that I'm most concerned about anyways. I do think it is best to require that a team keep a player signed for multi year deals for at least that 1st year.

I didn't but I had an opportunity to recieve a draft pick that would help me more and now I can't recieve that draft pick

Sure you can... for next season. It just doesn't look good for anyone to sign a player to a huge contract, and then trade him before he even plays. There are teams with a lot of money to spend. Without a rule like this, they could sign all of the top free agents, and then trade them for the best draft picks. They would have extra draft picks, and wouldn't be out anything.

Hey, in the real MLB its June 15th for all FA's. Why not make it the same?

At the pace of this league, we can sim an entire season in a month. So if we made it 6/15, then free agents could be traded in less than two weeks. I don't think a month of real time is too much to ask. If you don't want the player, then let someone else sign him.
