Sea Dogs 2007: The Revenge of Carlos

    C- Michael Barrett (3.5 stars, 30, 8-9-6-5-7)
    1B- Casey Kotchman (5.0 prospect stars, 25, 9-8-10-9-8)
    2B- Carlos Guillen (3.0 stars, 31, 9-7-5-8-7)
    3B- Adrian Beltre (4.0 stars, 27, 8-8-9-8-6)
SS- Kevin Elster (4.5 prospect stars, 22, 9-9-6-7-8)
LF- Jason Kubel (5.0 prospect stars, 24, 7-9-7-7-7)
    CF- Alexis Rios (3.5 stars, 26, 8-8-7-6-6)
    RF- Magglio Ordonez (3.5 stars, 33, 7-8-9-8-7)
    DH- Mike Sweeney (5.0 stars, 33, 8-8-7-8-8)

    AVG contact rating: 8.11 (pre-ST: 7.55)
    AVG gap rating: 8.22 (pre-ST: 7.667)
    AVG power rating: 7.33 (pre-ST: 6.22)
    AVG eye rating: 7.33 (pre-ST: 6.11)
    AVG avoid K rating: 7.11 (pre-ST: 6.44)
    AVG age: 27.88

Offense is still a weak spot of this team. It can be decent and with the improvements of Beltre last season, I do have at least one bonafide big bat. I added Elster in the offseason, who should be my guy at SS for years to come. Hopefully I see some improvements from Kubel, Rios, Burke and Kotchman because Sweeney and Ordonez do not have much longer. I also might try to figure out a way to get Joe Crede in the lineup to add some power in the lineup.

    SP Jake Peavy (3.5 stars, 25, 10-9-10 )
    SP Carlos Zambrano (3.5 stars, 25, 10-7-10)
SP Justin Verlander (5.0 prospect stars, 24, 9-7-8)
    SP Erik Bedard (3.0 stars, 27, 9-8-8)

    AVG stuff rating: 9.5 (pre-ST: 9)
    AVG control rating: 7.75 (pre-ST: 7.25)
    AVG movement rating: 9 (pre-ST: 8.75)
    AVG age: 25.25

Obviously the strong suit of the team, but the AL East is extremely rich in pitching (and young talent overall.) My big goal is getting Bedard to his 9 in stuff and then I will feel like I have four aces going out there. The four man rotation has worked well for me in nearly every league I use it and I think it could here. We did lose Francis in getting Elster but hopefully the improvement over Burke is worth the loss of Francis.

    MR Kevin Cave (3.0 stars, 26, 5-8-10)
    MR Mike Wuertz (2.5 stars, 28, 9-6-6)
    MR Luis Vizcaino (3.5 stars, 31, 8-8-7)
    MR Gary Majewski (2.5 stars, 27, 7-7-9)
    MR Ryan Dempster (4.5 stars, 29, 10-8-8)
MR Felipe Paulino del Guidice (5.0 prospect stars, 23, 10-6-9)
CL Roger Mcdowell (5.0 prospect stars, 24, 10-8-8)

    AVG stuff rating: 8.43 (pre-ST: 8.43)
    AVG control rating: 7.29 (pre-ST: 6.86)
    AVG movement rating: 8.14 (pre-ST: 7.86)
    AVG age: 26.85

I am liking the potential of the bullpen. The combo of Guidice-Mcdowell should give me a pretty lethal combo to go in the 8th and 9th. Mcdowell, after some early struggles, really came through for me last season right out of the draft, even appearing on the leaderboard despite his late apperance. Vermileya may or may not make it, obviously the former five star spect would be playing for his potential and not his current ratings. If Kevin Cave has a better spring in terms of progression, I might keep him up and set Vermilyea as the closer in AAA. And there are a few vets to round the pen out.
    ----

Summary, I am not expecting a ton. The AL East rocks more than the Sea Dogs do and will for awhile. I am just hoping for solid progression in the development department and hopefully I can add a high talent prospect to this farm where most of the talent is the MLB team with my traded for 1st round pick. If we develop, I wouldn't rule out a wild card run, but that's it. I am just happy I was able to add at least one young MLB bat to my lineup this offseason.

And yeah, Zambrano is getting his revenge. Missed out on the Cy Young, got held up in traffic because some bozo named CrazyEights started a massive fender bender, causing him to miss his start in the ALDS. Watch out, the kids got a temper.

The wheel was just invited Dave, it can be improved that much bro. And adding a sharp racing stripe to your team thread won't cut it.

Nah Dave, but with my masterful ST tweakings, Casey Kotchman is god of Savannah.

I think with the improvements my guys made over ST, I got a chance at the Wild Card now. Kotchman improving makes such a big difference as I finally have another big bat with Beltre with some youth.
