The NFL may be facing a meltdown

Talks between the two sides have broken down with no further talks scheduled. The CBA is still in place for the next two years, but 2007 could be uncapped (no salary cap). There is a great likelihood that big names will be cut as soon as tomorrow.

All I have to say is: NFL fans... get ready for your sport to become like MLB.

Should be interesting to see how this thing plays out.

Definitely interesting, but I just don't see anything huge coming from this. I think that a deal will get done soon enough.

Owners know if they want a chance to at least control some spending they need a salary cap or else you will see the Redskins, Texans, and a few others practically become the Yankees and other teams without the revenue fall by the wayside. They will get a deal done.

They have until midnight tomorrow to get the deal done; then there's almost no shot that the salary cap is going to exist in 2007.

I don't see it happening; Paul Tagliabue's too stubborn to submit to Upshaw's demands.

That would great to see NFL games on the Outdoor channel so I don't have to ever flip through it and ESPN can show something else like four hour of poker. Wait maybe that's a bad thing.

Hopefully a deal gets done, or you're going to have some of the very top players in free agency.

The NFL and the players association have broken off talks today, ending hopes of an 11th hour deal.

In other cap casualties, the infamous ex-XFLer "He Hate Me" Rod Smart was cut by the Carolina Panthers yesterday.

Well, with the owners voting unanimously to cut off the talks with the NFLPA, we are probably a year away from a lockout, or one year away from capless NFL.

I think Tags is going to eventually get something worked out, all signs point to him being done soon and I highly doubt he wants to go out as the guy who f*cked up the NFL.
