The Angels lost Bartolo Colon to a back injury in his last start while the A's still have Bobby Crosby out with a broken ankle. Buy or Sell...Colons Injury being more devestating to the Crosby Injury...Around the Horn to Prov.

SELL...the A's are something like 9-40 without Crosby in the lineup...Shrek (see Bartolo) is on the field every 5 games. The A's also were 17-32 and 12.5 games behind the Angels in the West when Crosby was activated from the DL on May 30 and had gone 58-24 since then to take a two-game lead in the West. Now they're 1.5 games behind. Also Harden and Kotsay are out...which hurts even more than just Shrek being injured for the LA Angels of Anaheim of California of the US.

Oh, you have got to go with Colon and buy this. Colon is the ace of the Angels' staff, with a 18-6 record, 3.24 ERA, and 1.18 WHIP. Who are they going to replace him with...Kelvim Escobar? Please. Crosby was batting a respectable .286, but the A's have former Met Marco Scutaro to replace him with. The main thing is, missing a bottom-of-the-lineup infielder with shoddy defense is less damaging to a team than losing it's ace who's been dominant, right in the midst of a playoff chase.

I'm buying. The only way the Angels would win the AL West is if Bartolo Colon can stay healthy and he's not. He's 18-6 with a 3.24 ERA. You cannot replace a guy with those stats. Crosby's injury is serious, but the A's do have guys that can fill in his place.

    Sell, Sell, Sell

The A's since Crosby was hurt are 1-4 (with the one win coming off of Al "Please Yank Me" Leiter, which this year EVERYONE has done. Plus anyone forget tehy were horrible before June without him? Crosby is the spark plug to that offense, without it you have an at best average lineup.

It hurts to lose your ace, but he is on the Day to Day list, which I expect him to miss a week to 10 days at most 2 starts. Also its not like hes the only good pitcher they got. Paul Byrd, Jarrod Washburn, and World Series Hero John Lackey still give the Angels 3 pitchers that they can be confident in that they can win with.

    Crosby is the bigger loss.

I'm buying. As Woody Paige would say "Looking at the schedule" the White Sox are facing Kansas City two times and Detroit the last week of the regular season. Those games are winnable but I'm really looking forward to them facing the Angels. That series could potentially be a preview of the ALCS.

I'm going to buy this for a couple reasons. They are 11th in the Majors for runs scored, they are 4th in the majors in stolen bases, 5th in baseball in era (3.58), got the best record in baseball, 5th in WHIP (1.25 which is VERY Good), and are very defensively sound. They are a National League team playing in the American League. They will be in the LCS.
