Jim Rome here again to pimp Tag Deodorant Spray. You know, clones, all that time spent in the basement has to get you smelling like a Star Wars geek. That's why there's Tag Deodorant Spray. Just spray it over your body, and in no time, you'll be smelling great. You can find Tag in your local Walgreen's and when you're there, pick up some Theragesic.

Welcome back to the show. We now take you out of bounds, to talk, what else, gambling. USA Today reports the NFL wants to ban NBC's upcoming series, called "Las Vegas." Why is the NFL so anti-Vegas, and is it foolish, considering everyone bets on the NFL? Around thy Horn to Mofo.

The NFL is not foolish and has to be anti-Vegas because football is the biggest sport to bet on. Football is also vulnerable to players throwing games because the game allows fans to bet on point spreads. Point shaving is more synonymous with basketball due to past college basketball players intentionally keeping games below the spread and screwing bettors of money and tarnishing the game. The NFL is trying to avoid its own players from being involved in point shaving and gambling.

They are overreacting. It's one thing to not want a team in Vegas since the temptation can be great and football players can be irresponsible at times. However, what's the harm in advertising for a fictional TV show? Football is living on a base of gambling and games. Fantasy Football, Pick 'em Pools, Mock Drafts, and flat out bets. The first thing you hear after the Super Bowl are the next year's odds to win the Super Bowl. The NFL is looking a gift horse in the mouth and complaining about it's breath. Vegas isn't exactly Ned Flanders house hold, but Vegas wife wasn't that bad.

The only thing that would seem to make the NFL anti-Vegas is that they feel it's not something of high enough quality to be depicted on TV, but I don't think that's their reason to be honest, because we are talking about the same NFL here that allowed the whole Janet Jackson Superbowl situation to happen(even if MTV set it all up). I know the NFL will be on NBC now and they might worry about it encouraging gambling among fans and players alike, but that seems like a "grasping at straws" idea. It really doesn't make much sense to me. No one except the NFL itself will probably even connect the NFL and gambling to a show on at a different time on the NBC network.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.
