NFL Cromartie: I was Chargers' scapegoat

Jets CB Antonio Cromartie, appearing on XTRA Sports 1360 in San Diego, on whether or not he felt like a scapegoat in San Diego: “Did I? Yes. I mean for instance, you can bring up the last play with the touchdown with Shonn Greene. I’m the guy that didn’t go for the tackle, but I’m not also the guy that missed the tackle too. I’m not the only guy on the field. There’s ten other guys besides me that can get to the play.”
That's true he's not the guy who missed the tackle.

evidently tomlinson is a pretty big scapegoat for sd too, according to some statements made by rivers and gates yesterday. at least cromartie isnt finished... though one could debate he was ever truly good to begin with.

and shonn greene is an animal, cromartie couldve attempted his deion tackling style anyway, wouldnt have made a difference.

Re: Cromartie: I was Chargers' scapegoat

Are you talking about the comments where Rivers and Gates said they don't have to worry about what LT thinks before speaking anymore? I don't think that really means they think he was the problem. It could simply mean they're no longer in the presence of a legend and it's a bit of a relief to not have to worry first about what he thinks and they can move on.

As for Cromartie, perhaps he should watch the clip of that last play where he's swatting at thin air like a little pansy while everyone else is diving into the trentch before he starts crying about being a scapegoat.

It's not like he's the only one being complained about, either. Just ask Nate Kaeding.

"Are you talking about the comments where Rivers and Gates said they don't have to worry about what LT thinks before speaking anymore?"

perhaps what i read was taken out of context, but it didnt sound at all what they were speaking about, was just about speaking to the media. from the ny post... which admittedly is not the most trustworthy subject out there, but heres what they got as a direct quote from gates...

gates: "sometimes you would get the sense that people felt bigger than the team. not to say it was an issue, but we know for sure now. me and lt had a wonderful relationship, but sometimes you got the sense of stardom status, and you can only take it so far".

rivers' quote is not in the post and alas, espn.com is currently not working for me. but his comment didnt appear like it was just about talking to the media either.

The Rivers quote was something along the lines of "...now we don't have to worry about what he (LT) thinks before speaking".

Honestly, I don't give a shit aside from my annoyance that L.A. area TV stations insist that the Chargers are my team, too. As for the Cromartie quote, I just came across it at benmaller.com where I was reading about the Mannywood sign having been taken down. I was just amused Cro pointed his finger at Eric Weddle (although he didn't mention his name).

L.T., Cromartie thrive at Chargers' expense - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Tomlinson is averaging an impressive 5.3 yards per carry, back to the kind of numbers he put up during his prime in San Diego.

As good as that revival is, Cromartie’s may be better. With No. 1 cornerback Darrelle Revis(notes) trying to get back in shape after a protracted holdout and subsequent hamstring injury, Cromartie has returned to the form that made him a Pro Bowler in his second season.
whoops, sorry A.J. You're like Bob Dole: You just can't win.

Meanwhile, Ryan Mathews is averaging 5.1 YPC

If only Norval Eugene Turner would give him more carries.

Chargers win if Jets win - SignOnSanDiego.com

    The PR! It begins!

A playoff win or a second round draft pick. Tough choice.
