    And the First Shoe Drops...

Sources: All signs point to Nebraska to Big Ten - ESPN

After this there is apparently 6 teams going to the Pac 10. 5 are about givens Texas, TT, Oklahoma, Ok State, and aTm (Texas A&M). The Sixth school is down to Baylor and Colorado theres some political pressure to try and get Baylor over Colorado but thats the next step.

The question becomes how far the Big 10 goes. Notre Dame could be the one school that could possibly save the Big East. If they go to the Big 10, it would probably mean theyd add Mizzou and call it a day at 14. SEC may respond with Cryami, FSU, Ga Tech, and Clemson to SEC. WIth those teams gone the ACC might actually be in a weaker position than the Big East.

If ND values its independence over a seat at the table (some rumors the conferences dont like ND getting a free ride) then the Big 10 could go after Syracuse, Rutgers, UConn, and/or Pitt and making the entire debate a moot point.

I'd be all over trying to convince Maryland, Va Tech, and BC to ditch the hollier than thou pompous blue bloods. Then cherry pick a 4th team to get to 12 just to protect yourself in the future. Also this would require a split of from the bball schools(unless they realize football is the big dog now). Leave open scheduling in basketball so that you can incorporate a Big East/(insert conference name) challenge to allow for tv games like Georgetown vs UConn to continue.

It would be cute if the Pac-10 expanded to 12 teams so they can call themselves the 12-PAC.

I didn't think the Pac-10 would pick deep into the pocket of the Big 12. I figured they would consider Utah (of the Mountain West) and Colorado, but Colorado would just be for the Denver media market. Colorado's hoops team sucks and it has no baseball team.

Colorado is the first in the Pac-10, err, Pac-11, err soon to be Pac-infinity.

Bye Bye Big 12. Now the big question is whether this brings about a playoff system

Texas, OU, and their hanger-ons (OSU, A&M, TT) are also expected to join. But now reports have surfaced saying the SEC has invited A&M, which could hold up the package deal with the Pac-10.

They could still wipe the floor with either of the super Pac or Big Ten. They don't need Texas A&M. TAM would be a door mat in that league.

The SEC is just using A&M as a decoy to foil the super conference deal because they realize the Texas state legislature will step in to keep UT and A&M together.

I think if anyone gets Texas, they should be forced to take all of the Texas teams. Tech. TAM. Baylor. Houston from C-USA. North Texas from whatever. Rice from Japan. Actually, just make a Texas-Oklahoma Conference and call it Yee-Haw.

The fact that UT is such a cash cow is why the Pac-10 is forced to take on the rest of the Big 12 South teams (except Baylor, it appears) to ride UT's coattails.

It's only fitting that the Big 10 renames itself the Big 12. Oh, wait.

Orangebloods.com - New proposal to save Big 12 with 10 teams being considered by UT Okay this is getting Ridiculous. All this talk about endless money in TV deals has officially put me in the category that these schools are about as good with economics and supply and demand as the Obama administration.

According to ESPN's Joe Schad, Big 12 sources are convinced that a move to the Pac 10 by Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State is imminent.

And most likely Texas A&M going to the SEC. Initially, I was thinking it was stupid then I realized they would stand out with Texas recruits. I don't agree with the move financially but I can understand it when it comes to recruiting. It comes down to Utah or Kansas for the 16th spot. Utah now has the edge because of the Salt Lake City market.
