Favre reportedly to sign with Vikings today

Favre reportedly will sign with Vikings on Tuesday - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

MINNEAPOLIS -- Record-setting quarterback Brett Favre is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday,

WCCO-TV in Minneapolis reported, citing a high-level source with the team.

WCCO-TV spoke with an official at the airport in Favre's hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss., who saw an airplane with the Vikings logo leave the airport Tuesday morning.

Favre, who played for the New York Jets last season, told the Vikings on July 28 that he would remain retired.

Favre, who will turn 40 on Oct. 10, played 16 seasons for the Green Bay Packers, NFC North rivals of the Vikings. The teams meet Oct. 5 in Minnesota and Nov. 1 in Green Bay.

Supposedly it's a one year, $12 million deal. His plane will land in Minneapolis around 12:10pm local time today. Probably start the 3rd preseason game.

Did anyone really doubt it? Brett Favre will never retire. It's kinda sad, because (to me at least) his legacy is tarnished more and more each year he comes back and is just mediocre. He had a good year in 2007, but overall, it's really time for him to retire already.

It's funny to even list those two as quarterbacks.

What is there really to tarnish? He's won mvps, a super bowl, broken records, etc. why should you really care what the man wants to do or not do, he has nothing to prove.

Favre distractions/circuses occur in the offseason, not the regular season. It's not like he's Chad Ochocinco or Terrel Owens where he's constantly a problem, he just has a hard time trying to decide whether or not to retire.

And any way you slice it, Favre, even at his age, is 100,000x better than Sage freakin Rossenfeld and Tavaris freakin Jackson.

    Brett Favre = Roger Clemens

Clemens said for 5 years in a row that he was going to retire before he finally did. He even weaseled his way into an ASG because of it. Now Favre is doing the Clemens dance: "I'm retiring, no I'm not. I'm retiring, wait...never mind. I'm done, hold on...I'm still hungry!"

Jackson despite being benched had a 94.2 rating in 9 games. had 9 TDs to 2 INTs.

Brett Farve with better receivers and a inferior line (at least in the running game) had a rating that was on par with Gus Ferrorte (22 TDs, 22 INTs and a 81 and change rating for Farve, 13 TD, 15 INT with a 79 rating for Gus)

Favre was also playing with an injured throwing shoulder.

He was looking like his MVP self before he suffered that injury.

And don't let Jackson's minor limited success fool you, he sucks.

I just think a QB that makes a ton of mistakes (which Farve does 100 percent or not) is bad for this team that cant afford it. Sure talent wise hes better but I still think hes a bad fit for this team.

I don't think Favre is a sure thing for them, I just think he's 1,000x better than Jackson and Sage.
