NHL Who else is pumped for NHL All-Star Weekend?

Kovalev (for the East) and Thornton (for the West) were named captains of their teams, and Crosby was replaced by St. Louis as the Penguins (sadly) are going to have to fight their way back into a playoff position after such a nasty slide.

Should be a great weekend for hockey.

Re: Who else is pumped for NHL All-Star Weekend?

I'm disappointed in the West team

    Keith Tkachuk
    Mike Modano

I'm just mad at the NHL decisions to let these in the game when even teammates are doing better, for Dallas they got 3 forwards with more points than Modano Brad Richards, Mike Ribeiro, and Loui Eriksson, while Modano is name still, its nowhere as big as 5 years ago. As for St Louis they have a raising star in Brad Boyes who has 20 goals right now, why not get his name out there and showcase him more

then there is Brian Rafalski getting snubbed for Dallas defensemen Stephane Robidas when Rafalski teammate NIk Lidstrom pulled, not to mention they are a lot more defensemen that are better than Robidas out there

I've always found the Saturday festivities to be awkward and disappointing.

That's because we already know most professional hockey players can skate well and shoot the puck fast. On the flip side, the home run derby is a popular event because not every baseball player can hit tape measure home runs.

I love it personally, but I've done those type of drills for years (I don't know if that has any impact or not.) I can still remember like Al McInnis with his 101 mile an hour slapshot and how when I went to my park rink, it was just a non-stop competition of slapshots. What I am more disappointed by is the flawed selection of All-Stars and how many players practically create reasons to avoid the game, which just diminishes the value of the game itself. That and the overuse of sponsors during the skills competition gives a cheapened feel to the whole weekend.

Maybe Gary Bettman should make a rule that the winning conference in the All-Star Game gets home-ice advantage in the Stanley Cup!

Everytime they try and show highlights. The Rookies score a goal.
