NFL Congrats To The Detroit Lions!!!

How has this not been said? Congrats to the Detroit Lions on becoming the first team ever to go 0-16!! The Lions have been one of the worst franchises of the past decade and goes to show that parity in football is a myth. I will give the Lions one thing, they never quit. Just looking over the scores, there were in a lot of these ballgames. Hopefully they will get a QB to throw to all 9836 WRs they have drafted over five years. Congrats again on 0-16!!****ing pathetic

    Yep.

The Lions have single-handedly thwarted the efforts of the Miami Dolpins, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, and the Atlanta Falcons and proven that parity in the NFL is a myth!

OK let me rephrase it, they don't have the most parity of any sport as they claim. That is pure myth. Plus when a team goes undefeated in your sport, where's the parity?

It's in their homes and on the golf course where that same team is for the playoffs the next year.

What sport has more parity? The MLB has the Royals, the Pirates, before last year the Rays, and even the Rangers who constantly lose. The NBA has the Thunder, the Wizards, Timberwolves, Kings all getting beaten daily.

MLB has way more parity. Last year, half the teams were not in the playoffs the year before. Go back and look at the number of different teams in the MLB playoffs compared to the NFL. No team is going 0-162 either. My point is that the NFL self proclaims they have the most parity when it isn't true. How much parity can there be when a team goes 0-season?

I doubt any NFL team would go winless or undefeated if they played 162 games either.

Likewise, I doubt MLB would be without a winless or undefeated team if they only played 16 game seasons.

    you're comparing apples to oranges.

and 7 of the 12 NFL playoff teams this year were not in the playoffs last year.

Parity means there is some equality. 0-16 shreds that. I agree its apples and oranges which furthers my claim that the NFL's claim is a myth.

I just don't see the same level of parity in other sports. Yes in INDIVIDUAL GAMES, any team can win any time in ALL sports. But over the course of a season, it's very difficult to find a team that can do what the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, or Atlanta Falcons did this year alone in the NFL.

Well of course the NFL has more playoff spots than the MLB. MLB has eight different champions since 2000, the NFL has only five. More of an equal playing field don't you think? I just don't see it in the NFL especially when teams go 0-16 and 16-0.

    It's a 16 game seasons.

    That's only 16 games!

And, even with only 16 games this is the first time it's EVER happened. (And last year was the first time a team has ever won 16....and then they lost the Super Bowl.)

I'm sorry, but one team going 0-16 doesn't negate the turn around seen in the playoff picture every year.

Re: Congrats To The Detroit Lions!!!

To clarify a bit, I'm not trying to argue that there isn't parity in baseball, nor am I trying to argue which sport has more.

The only thing I'm arguing is the incorrect notion that there isn't that much parity in the NFL just because 1 of the 32 teams couldn't win a game this year.

Where's the equality when one team can't even win is my point? More of a level playing field in baseball than football.

How slow do I need to say this?

    IT'S ONLY 16 GAMES

Has a baseball team never gone on a 16 game win or loss streak?

What are you proposing? a longer schedule? That's preposterous with the beating they take in football games.

if the NFL played 162 games, the league would have to fold due to injuries to all their players.
