Matt Cassel 2008 > Tom Brady 2001
And I agree with Collinsworth. The Jets had been jamming Randy Moss at the line of scrimmage all game and held him in check. But on the last play of regulation, they decide to back Ty Law off him, give Moss all sorts of room and Cassel finds him with a running pass on the side of the end zone for the score. Unreal.
The update (6 games to go):
2,200 pass yards, 10 touchdowns, 7 interceptions.
Well on his way to being over on pass yards and under on interceptions. Huge game tonight. cjkalt is heading towards the win.
This game did NOT help my cause. 400 yards and 3 TD's
Your best shot right now would be a season-ending injury in the next game or two. Maybe you should make the trip to Foxboro and whack Cassel in the knee, kind of like what happened with Mr. Burns did in that bowling episode of The Simpsons.
Unless McConnell is as bad as Jamarcus Russell or Dan Orvloskaisidkdi. Then you're screwed.
Matt Cassel does not suck.
Best RB they've had since Antwain Smith
I think the Pats need to seriously consider trading Tom Brady, if we can get a couple 1sts for him and still have cassel... imagine
How many teams that need a QB can afford Brady?
List of first few teams that come to mind (but with non-guaranteed contracts any team can make room):
1) San Fran
2) St. Louis
3) Carolina
4) Vikings
5) Texans
6) Tennessee (all 3 QB's are FA's)
7) Jacksonville
8) Kansas City
Or they could just go ahead and trade cassel after the season...
Why would Carolina want a QB? Jake Delhomme is doing just fine. That's why they're 8-3. Jacksonville and Houston don't need QB's either, and KC so far has tabbed Thigpen as the QB of the future.
Delhomme is getting older, and while he's nice he's no playmaker like Brady, Jax and Houston are underperforming with their current QB's (Schaub can't stay healthy) Thigpen is decent, but KC is a franchise with a identity crisis, LJ is getting arrested weekly (ala Michael Vick), they need a franchise guy
Also the reason to trade Brady, is the Pats are going to franchise Cassel (he's a FA, but we won't let him walk without compensation), so if a team can have Tom Brady or Matt Cassel for 2 1st round picks (at least) they would choose cassel, which is why the Pats will keep him and trade Brady.
Also Cassel is younger, and isn't coming off knee surgery, and frankly he looks better in the offense right now
