    Vegas: How Soon??

Just curious what everybody's guess is as to how long before a major sports franchise (NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL) is announced in Vegas?

I doubt it will be anytime soon with the NFL due to the amount of money bet on the sport every year (myself included). I think a MLB team could succeed and do well in Vegas and from appearances it sure looks like the NBA has already opened the door.

As far as the NHL I don't know about ice hockey in the desert but you never know.

The NHL is already overexpanded, but the Penguins are the team most talked about relocating. Still, it's a fact that ice hockey doesn't work in the desert. Wayne Gretzky can go to a grocery store in Maricopa County and not be recognized.

Jeffrey Loria would be an idiot (or a bigger one depending on your opinion of him) to not consider to a move there. The Marlins are sitting on the worst fanbase in the country.

I was responding to the inquiry about whether or not they'd put hockey in the desert.

I agree that the Marlins should move there.

I hope whatever league it is that puts a team there doesn't give Vegas an expansion club. It seems like the pro leagues got too many teams as is, should re-locate one that already exists instead.

Would be stupid entirely. Attendance would suck. When you're in Vegas, you don't think about hitting up an NBA (or much less an NHL) game. You think about hitting the casinos and the sports books. You think about going to see showgirls or Cirque du Soleil or whatever. Not a sporting event? It's one thing if you put a one-time NBA All-Star game there. But 41 games? Ouch, that would be rough.

put an NBA team there and you the stripclub incidents would happen quite frequently, let alone attendance issues. and keep football from there, as the bengals and pacman jones would always be in jail.
