    The Criminals of professional sports.

I'm working on an article for strike3, but I'm looking for input here.

Think... of all the pro sports, and all of the players, which ones stand out the most in your mind when it comes to the fact that they committed a crime of some sort- they did something to live in infamy- something that frankly irks you to no end. But, they got a second chance and continued to play in that sport. Hell, they got a third chance or even a fourth. I know they exist. So what pissed you guys off the most?

Give me more than something in the steroid line. I'm talking, Leonard Little driving drunk and killing a kid's mother; and he's had multiple DUI's AFTER THE FACT, and yet he still plays defensive end in the NFL. Give me something damning of that nature.

You'll see where I go with this in my article. I've been tossing and turning through ideas to piece this together, but the missing link is public opinion.

Precisely why I physically removed the post before your reply came up

    Ray Lewis- murder?

Jamal Lewis- orchestrated a drug deal, despite facing a huge NFL payday

Corey Fuller- running a gambling ring in his house

Nate Newton- Mr. "I transport tons of drugs twice" Newton

    Michael Irvin

Nick Harper- Colts DB who was beaten by his wife, and then stabbed in the knee before a game against Pittsburgh

Chris Henry- what is it, at least four arrests this offseason

Sean Taylor- "I fired a gun at someone's house because they stole my ATVs. Oh, and my dad is a sheriff"

Gilbert Arenas- standing next to a teammate who was in the streets of Miami drunk, he said "You can't arrest me, I am a professional basketball player with the Washington Wizards." Charged with resisting arrest nonviolently

Marcus Vick- stomps a player, then gets caught robbing people?

Daunte Culpepper, Fred Smoot, Bryant McKinnie, and Moe Williams- Sex Boat 2005

    Is that enough?

At least 75% of the crime in professional sports is accounted for by the NFL.

    Michael Jordan.

The NBA forced him to temporarily retire, so his gambling problems wouldn't be blown up ala Pete Rose.

Half these guys I honestly don't believe actually offended you guys. Cause mostly, they're far from heinous. I recognize alcohol and drug problems, as well as beating your wife/girlfriend/loved one as a bad thing, but I was looking for some things that would make any casual sports stare in awe with a "how the Hell is he a free man/woman" look in their eyes.

    How about Lawrence Phillips?

Tom Osborne decided to play him during the Fiesta Bowl and local/national media criticized him because Osborne didn't think they would win it without him. Phillips had a chance in the NFL but doing stupidity off the field made him a bust in the NFL.

He tried to run over kids using his own car. I think that asks the question "How the hell is he free?"
