Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet, according to the Tribune-Review. In the past, he has publicly said he prefers to ride helmetless, which is legal in Pennsylvania.

It's the law to wear a helmet here!
But damn. A miserable damn at that. [cries into Big Ben jersey]

Seriously, if you're making your way to a big contract extension/FA contract, why on earth would you ride without at least a helmet?

More states need to enforce a law. When there's no law, people aren't going to make the extra effort. I would bet that if wearing a seat belt wasn't a law, the majority of people would not go to extra lengths to click it.

At any rate, this saddens me cause I really liked Big Ben and as a steeler fan.. figures, he must have caught Carson's curse. Which was passed onto Carson by KWIII. Yeah, ****in' look out Baltimore, Ed Reed is going to break his femur in 5 spots now!

As a non-Steeler fan that listens to everyone suck this guy off at the Pirates games, good.

As a person, who lost grandparents in a motorcycle accident because they weren't wearing their helmet, well, you ****ing idiot...

Apparently, Big Ben is in serious, but stable condition. Its sad, but I can't have sympathy for a guy who doesn't wear a helmet while riding his motorcycle. My uncle does the same thing and it scares me to death. But, considering he was in Afghanistan, who am I to argue with him.

Apparently he learned nothing after Winslow's accident, or even former Duke player Jason Williams' wreck.

Professional teams have contract poison pills for this sort of thing. The Steelers at least don't have to pay him if he can't play football.

my mom and stepdad didn't wear a helmet and I hardly think they "got what they deserved"

I think it's stupid not to wear one, but to say he "got what he deserved" is crossing the line.

I'd say that if Leonard Little was the one on the bike with no helmet.
