I said it was stupid...it was stupid for them not to wear one as well, I even said so when I got the news.

But to insinuate they, or Ben, "got what they deserved" is a bit much.

But, then again, I should apologize, I immidiatly got on a soapbox and i'll digress. If all that comes out of it is his career is in jeopardy due to injuries, then yes, I agree he got what he deserved due to his stupidity.

I heard John Clayton reported that.

I also heard that Clayton is a moron because, plain as day on the news, you could see the car being impounded by the same vehichle that impounded the motorcycle.

Of course, i'm merely echoing what steeler fans are saying in the thread at thenflforums, as I don't have the news on cuz i'm at work.

Like I said over there, I could have misheard him.
Or he misspoke and they are looking for a car that caused this crash [shrug]

    Yeah...
Well, I'd like to think I heard what he said, but apparently the Maine car he was mentioning was impounded so.. I really don't know what the hell Clayton was talking about.

    The injuries look to be:
    Broken jaw
    broken sinus cavity
laceration on the back of the head
teeth knocked out, hey, he could be a hockey player or a West Virginian now
knee damage (if you listen to clayton, it sounded like minimal damage, but a report on thenflforum posted by Friday contradicts that and I'm going to unfortunately have to believe that report over Clayton's right now)

They had to summon in a plastic surgeon to repair some shit. Ouch.

It's a broken left sinus cavity bone, specifically, I believe.

and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that the knee damage is severe.

That's ugly to say the least. Looks as if Charlie Batch better be getting some reps in camp.

thing is, would a helmet have prevented some of that? probably not. at least not most of the helmets i see.

helmet would have prevented the broken sinus cavity and the 8 inch gash on his head, and probably the teeth.

A helmet would have prevented the jaw injury, sinus cavity injury, the cut on the back of his head, and his teeth getting knocked out, IF it was a full helmet with face protection and all. The knee damage was unavoidable.

and the jaw, I missed that one.

I think a lot of teeth could have still been knocked out from the jolt, though, and smashing facefirst into his own helmet while it nails the windshield.

lost of a lot of teeth, some lacerations, and possible broken jaw, possible concussion. the guy from pittsburgh speaking on WGN hasnt said anything about the knee. just head injuries.

at least there wasnt anything about like neck or anything like that.
