The Expendibles - Movie Review by rf28 (spoiler warning)

The cast includes the following: Sylvester Stallone (who wrote, produced, and directed), Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Dolph Lungren, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, and cameos by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Plot (Spoiler Alert): Stallone leads a group of mercenaries to liberate a small country from a ruthless dictator being helped by a rogue CIA agent.

My Review: Simply having all of these former action stars makes you want to see it. Once you're at the theater, you'll wonder why you paid to see it. Tired plot, old stars that look horrible (i.e. Stallone and Rourke look like they've had more plastic surgery than Joan Rivers), and a predictable ending makes this movie almost unwatchable. Plus, its the bloodiest movie EVER!!!! (Crews has a shotgun that blows people in half).

    My Overall Grade: D-

This movie would have been much more epic about 10 years ago.

It still has a tired, already played plot. I think it might have been better if Arnold and Bruce Willis would have had a bigger role.

BTW, Bruce's new movie, Red, looks pretty decent.

Oh no. This was one of the most fun times I've had at the movies in a while. Sure, it's some of the worst dialogue you'll ever hear, and things such as "plot" and "character development" are unnecessary, but Stallone knows how to film action. If you are a man and didn't enjoy this then your sexuality may be in question. Hilariously bad and incredibly awesome at the same time. I can't wait to see it again.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

An amazing cast for sure. Just think if they'd been able to get Van Damme and Seagal on board. It would be the best cast of all-time, hands down.

Well, Machete has a pretty crazy cast and it does feature Seagal.. as a bad guy no less.

According to reports, Van Damme turned Stallone down (dumbest move ever)

Apparently Stallone is starting to write Expendibles 2

I got to see the movie last night. I enjoyed every minute of it. I think it was one of the few films in which, during the movie I was hoping to see certain things, and holy shit it happened. Brilliant idea of having a real wrestler fight a fake wrestler, with the real one winning. Statham and Li teaming up to break fu manchu guy's neck like that? FREAKING AWESOME! Those two are always fighting each other in movies, finally a team up. Li kicking Lundgren's ass? Awesome. And Terry Crews busting out the auto shotty (AA-12) to destroy people at the end, I just was in movie bliss.

I don't know what to say. Mindless action has never been so good. Instead of all the CGI, these are the plotless movies Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich should make. 6 thumbs up.
