    Oscars.

Just thought I'd post my picks before they start so that I can say "I told you so" when it's over. Last year, I was an awesome 5-for-6 with my picks.

    Best movie - Brokeback Mountain
Best director - Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain)
Best actor - Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain)
Best actress - Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)-tight battle here
Best supporting actor - Matt Dillon (Crash)
Best supporting actress - Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener)

"and that's all I have to say about that."

Would be hard to argue any of those...

By argue, I mean I think that's about the way they'll fall, even though I don't agree with half of it. The last 3 choices are all solid.

If it's up to me, this is how it falls:

    • Motion Picture: Crash
    • Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix
    • Best Actress: Charlize or Reese would work for me. They both did a great job in their roles
    • Best Supporting Actor: Mat Dillon
    • Best Supporting Actress: Rachel Weisz or Frances McDormand. Again, both did a good job, although Rachel -does- have the edge here as her role was much much bigger.
    • Best Director: Paul Haggis (Crash)
    • Best Screenplay (for screen) - Crash
    • Best Screenplay (from previous material) - ? Not sure
    • Best Animated Feature - Corpse Bride (I honestly didn't like any of these nominations)

seriously. The thing that bothers me about that flick and all the hype around it is the hype itself. I haven't heard one person talk about how good/great it is. It appears to be doing nothing more than getting nominated based on its "controversial" subject/plotline more so than the movie itself, the writing, acting, directing, etc.

Well, I could tell you about how good it is if you want, haha. It's unfortunate for the movie that the hype is the foremost thing people say about it, because it actually is a great movie on its own.

That said, I think it *will* go like this:
    Best movie - Capote
Best director - Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain)
Best actor - Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote)
Best actress - Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)
Best supporting actor - Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man)
Best supporting actress - Frances McDormand (North Country)

The only difference between my predictions and what I feel were the best is that Paul Haggis (Crash) is who I felt was the best director.

That would have been so weird if he won an Oscar, especially with all his odd roles early in his career.

He was great in Crash though, I give him that.

Your idea of a threesome is joining Tom Selleck and Don Johnson in a bath tub with plenty of suds.
