Reformatting my Computer what to do with music

I'm going to reformat my computer, but, I have 4500+ songs.I downloaded about 200 of them. But the rest i have a CD of and my dad has them all on his computer so i wouldn't really be losing all my music but it takes more then a day to convert them to Itunes format. So it there anyway i can keep all the songs on my iPod and put them on my computer after i reformat?

That was my reaction when I saw it at the store, lol

    I have since seen a 1 terrabyte hard-drive available. (1 terrabyte=1,000 gigs)
That would've been a bit much, even if it was available at the time, though.
