    Nov. 29th Movie Pick 'Ums

One major release, so game changes. This week's goal is to predict where Aeon Flux will land on the top 10. If you don't think it'll even crack the top ten, put outside of the top ten. Get your guesses in by friday 11:59 p.m.

    Aeon Flux
Starring: Charlize Theron, Frances McDormand, and Jonny Lee Miller(a Jolie ex)
    Rated: PG-13
    Theatre count: 2,500 - 2,600

Remember, we're going by domestic sales. Have fun.

I did consider taking a chance that it would win this week, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Damn those Potter fans.

    Bump.

Also, unfortunately, it looks like next weekend is a wash too. I don't know if Narnia will garner Harry Potter or LOTR type draws, but it's possible. Even half as much attention, Syriana and the snowboarding documentary stand no chance.

    May 1st, for this stuff.
At that point, a far larger on scale contest begins, to ultimately crown a winner.
I'll hafta think of something cool as a prize.

    WOO-HOO!!!

    Gotta love this recap:

'Harry Potter' Conjures $20M Over Weekend

Sunday December 4 1:40 PM ET

The third weekend was still a charm for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," which remained the top movie with $20.45 million.

Charlize Theron's sci-fi tale "Aeon Flux," a movie apparently so bad distributor Paramount did not screen it beforehand for critics, still managed to debut in second place with $13.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

With "Aeon Flux" the only notable new wide release, the remainder of the top 10 was filled out with holdover flicks, led by 20th Century Fox's Johnny Cash chronicle "Walk the Line," the No. 3 movie with $10 million.

It was a quiet weekend at theaters compared to the busy Thanksgiving period. The top 12 movies took in $79 million, virtually the same as the corresponding weekend a year ago.
