I'd rather get snow than get the heat...but NY gets no snow whatsoever.

well, the hurricane has finally made its turn that puts it on a path for the southeast Louisiana coast. The tropical storm winds are very near the outer islands of Louisiana (and rain has already hit just south of New Orleans)

What I want to know when I keep watching these news feeds is why is half of the interstate empty? Are the geniuses running this operation not realizing that almost nobody is going to be coming into the city and therefore they have a whole extra set of lanes they can be using to evacuate?
When I lived in South Carolina and a barely catagory 2 Hurricane came in (i forget the name) and there was a voluntary evacuation they opened the inbound sides of the highways to people leaving to help expidite the evacuation. And this was for a Hurricane that ended up doing jack shyt. You'd think with this huge Catagory 5 hurricane about to desend on a big city that's below sea level somebody would think about opening the southbound lanes to northbound traffic.

If I was going to evacuate I would've gone east to New Orleans and cut through Mississippi and Bama to get to Florida. Maybe they were thinking of people like me.

and within minutes from making that post I see on the news that they are opening the southbound lanes to exiting traffic.

    Maybe somebody's reading this forum

Hope Crow and everyone else affected by the hurricane makes out alright.

All we can do now is pray, because the incompetent government waited till the last second to start evacuating.

It is going to get real bad in New Orleans apparently. The weather channel didn't even send Jim Cantore there.

theres actually nothing you could have done cause until the hurricane really starts to get about 300 miles inland you have no idea where its going to go...original forcasts tracked it hitting pensicola, and now its NO.
