Actually, I think he is just what it needs, I think if he continues to lead the polls it will wake the parties up as to just how ridiculous things have gotten, that the American people are so desperate they'd rather have this clown than these "lifetime politicians".

Or perhaps American citizens can wake up and quit clammoring for Libertarian principles while ignoring the Libertarian Party.

Re: United States President Donald Trump

Maybe, just my opinion but I think the Libertarians lose a lot of people with some of their social issues, but the majority of their stands are spot on, they do gain more popularity with each passing election. The main problem is for all the clamor for "change" people also don't like change, it's been a two party majority for so long, they can't comprehend what it might be like if there were three or four represented in Congress. I think a majority feel like there would be even more gridlock.

People are told if you don't vote one of the two "main" candidates, instead of a different party or even a write in vote (which you are allowed) oh, you're "throwing away" your vote. Well, I have been "wrong" almost as much as I have been "right", I am 5-for-4 in elections since I have been old enough to vote. I have my say, that to me is what it is all about.

Re: United States President Donald Trump

If you vote for someone who doesn't most closely hold the principles you think are important then that is when you're throwing your vote away.

If all of the people who wanted to vote Libertarian but didn't under the fear that they'd be "wasting their vote" actually voted Libertarian the Libertarian Party just might actually gain enough steam to produce viable candidates with realistic shots of winning.

I personally don't believe anyone is throwing their vote away, but unfortunately we're in the minority on that idea.

If you vote for something or someone you don't believe in then you're throwing your vote away.

What's the fundamental difference between a non-vote and a vote for something you don't really want?

Re: United States President Donald Trump

Unfortunately, I think people are more interested in making themselves feel better that they voted for someone that ended up being elected or came in second than voting who they really want that ultimately had no chance of being the popular candidate. Like you say I'd rather vote for who I actually like than vote for the "lesser of two weevils".

I can't wait for him to make America great again. It's lost its way and needs to right this terrible direction it's been heading in for the last 8 years.
