Remember when you would come home from school and it seemed like The Simpsons were always on? Well, thanks to the evil geniuses at NEWS Corp. (parent company of Fox Broadcasting), the dream of watching the loveable exploits of TV’s first family 24/7 might one day become a reality.

According to the A/V Club, News Corp. COO Chase Carey confirmed “there have been a number of meetings” regarding the possibility of an “all-Simpsons network.” Speaking at the Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Media Communications & Entertainment Conference, the website reports that Carey noted “the responsibility of taking full advantage of a show with ‘a volume that is unprecedented.’”

Since The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, animated series and primetime scripted show, the channel will have a vast well of material to work with if it does go forward. But before you slip into your muumuu and prepare for a life of disability cheques, potential viewers should be warned that side-effects of prolonged viewing may include doing the Bartman, encouraging others to not have a cow, informing elders to eat one’s shorts and a new generation of children finding out where Fallout Boy got their name.

Also, as the A/V Club points out, “before any of that could happen, Fox would have to wrap up all of the show’s current long-term syndication deals.” Which means it might be a little while before the dream is a reality. D’oh!
