Out of action for month is a small price to pay for being well for a long time to come...

Done with all the preliminaries. My MD daughter helped me make my final decision. She seems to have "gotten it" as far as medical practice goes. I'm very proud of her.
Now comes the hardest part -- waiting and anticipating the unknown.

Tomorrow is the day for the procedure. I've done all the prep and am ready to go. I report to the hospital at 10:30 and go into the OR at about 12:30. The 2 hours is for my pre-op stuff -- IVs, anesthesia, final instructions. My wife will likely need more care than I do tomorrow and my daughter, who works at that hospital, has a light schedule so she can keep tabs on us.

Surgery was yesterday. The doc said it went really well and that I should be back to "normal" in about 6 weeks or so. I'm taking the next 2 weeks completely off and might go back to work on a light-duty schedule around May 1.
A huge thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

What's going on Catman. After reading through this whole thread, I'm glad to see you're recovering!
Hope everything is going well. I hope both you and your family has dealt with such stress in stride.
I'll say a prayer for you my friend. Keep strong.
Love going to minor league games, seen the Clearwater Threshers (Phillies) and the Tampa Yankees, might try to see the Dunedin Blue Jays this season.
I just got a call from my surgeon -- he gave me the best possible news. The pathology report confirmed cancer, but it showed the disease was confined to the prostate. I shouldn't need further treatments.
We have a meeting with the Dr on Monday morning to discuss my limitations.

That's wonderful. Keep up the good fight!

Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
