Thumbs Down Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 re-tread got it wrong

Adding a neck tattoo and Top Gun-like sunglasses to John Travolta does not make him a good villain. He was horrible as was the movies itself, in Swordfish and Battlefield Earth.

Meanwhile Denzel Washington was brilliant as a bad guy (Training Day).

It's not quite brain surgury here. Reverse the roles, ink up Denzel, make Travolta the bumbling good guy, and you might have a decent "remake".

I think it would be interesting that way, well, from a character standpoint. Unless they completely change up the story and ending, this is a wasted remake (the ending is a lot cooler.. in context of the movie being made many years ago, as opposed to today's world).

Not only that, but Travolta looks stupid with the tattoo. Nothing short of a Mike Tyson facial tatt, could they have done something so comically bad.

Agreed. Denzel has the look of a cop/detective and he's ok as a bumbling good guy, but he is so much better at playing anti-hero main characters (Malcolm X, Training Day, American Gangster). Those are the Denzel movies I would pay to see.
