    TV Eastbound & Down

Comedy series on HBO about a washed up ball player whose trying to make it back to the majors.

If I had to describe it, I guess it is like Ricky Bobby meets John Rocker.

Anyone watching this? It doesn't have anything that will go over your heads, but it has it's moments.

Yeah, I've been watching it. It is a bit of a let down after FoTC, which I just love so that's not really a knock on Eastbound, although McBride is perfect for the role. I haven't watched tonight's episode yet, but there are definitely some great moments so far in the show. Tons of quotable quotes too.

"Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is I'm not. I honestly just feel that America's the best country and all the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism."

I tend to think the opposite.

The second season of FoTC has been something of a let down for me. It still has it's moments, but the quality of songs was better in season one. Although my favorite moment of season two would have to be the Australia/New Zealand rivalry ("She's probably in the toilet thinking of something to bring me down with").

The difference is they had already written songs which they then wrote episodes around. I think writing songs directly for the show has taken it down a notch. I do like season one better than season two, but I still think season two has been great with things like the rivalry, The Tough Brets, or Bret buying a $2.79 tea cup that through their finances into a tailspin. Was tonight any good?

I was just watching my season one DVD last weekend and I always love the Footloose scene in the last episode of season one, with Crazy Dogggz.

Unfortunately, I thought tonight's episode was one of their weaker ones. I'm kind of bummed out there's only a couple more episodes left in the season each for Eastbound & Down and FoTC.

I think Eastbound is great...Kenny Powers is such an incredible anti-hero and McBride plays the role so perfectly. I think it's hilarious.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

I would so pay money for "You're ****ing Out, I'm ****ing In"

    ...

I've been blessed with many things in this life - an arm like a damn rocket, a **** like a Burmese python and the mind of a ****in' scientist. So people often ask me, "Kenny, what are your weaknesses - do you have any?" I would say that my biggest flaw, my Achilles heel, is my tireless work ethic.

It was, and I haven't even re-watched the finale yet.

I think I watched every episode more than once and each time, I laughed harder or I found something that I missed out on the first viewing.

That was a great finale. I really loved the progression of Kenny Powers' character over the last two or three episodes.

Oh and it seems like they already considering an 8 episode followup season:
