Yeah there's just so much to do there. Doesn't seem like it, but there really is (plus add in all the time that you spend waiting in lines, and you have a full day). Last year there was Willie Mays and Orlando Cepeda signing autographs. I started to wait in line for Mays, but after standing in the same place for half an hour I said screw this I'm going to the batting cages. I went back at the tail end and still got his autograph, so it all worked out in the end.

wow, I'm in awe. That's incredible. They had like 10 guys, they went up in pairs, and only signed for 2 hours. Basically, you could only get 2 out of every 4....because the line was so long. I got Rollie Fingers, Ferguson Jenkins, Robin Roberts, and I was supposed to get Juan Marichal, but the jerk decided he wanted to leave early, so they replaced him with ****ing Oscar Gamble. If I had gotten Marichal, I would have been ECSTATIC.

Bummer! Marichal would have been a great autograph. I guess we lucked out because the players stayed the entire time (Cepeda actually stayed an extra 45 mins, which was really cool). Plus they played for the local team and these were all of their fans for many years, so I think it meant a little more to them.

He seemed fine to me, but anything's possible here in San Fran lol.

Rightly so. I'd be pissed if they had gotten up and left early too.

Haha, makes you wonder if you'd be better off without a replacement than with one!

Exactly. And they call it a ****ing legends signing. If Oscar Gamble is a legend, then so am I. I mean, Gamble's career numbers: .265, 200 HR, 47 SB, about 1400 H. Nothing even close to legendary. The most notable thing he did was grow a cool afro. But he doesn't even have that anymore, so nothing about meeting him was special.

Yeah you def. have a valid point. I guess he was the only person who could show up on short notice. Figures so. He'll take all the media attention he can get.

The problem was that he was actually one of the signers in the first place (he signed much earlier in the day) and just hadn't gone home. I don't know why he was asked to sign. Also, Harmon Killebrew just decided to not even ****ing show. Such arrogant *********s

An early departure plus a no-show? psh, doesn't seem like much of an autograph signing to me anymore.

Well, they still had Ferguson Jenkins, Rollie Fingers, Fred Lynn, Gaylord Perry, Steve Sax, Orlando Cepeda, Oscar Gamble, Billy Williams.

Wow...that's a heckuva lot more than they had in San Fran. Like I said, there was only Cepeda and Mays when I went. I don't know who was there the other days (I know McCovey was there, but I don't remember any of the other guys). But still a pretty good crowd.

Yeah, I mean, I got Fingers, Jenkins, Robin Roberts, and Gamble....but I REALLY wanted Marichal.
