But the economy was roaring under Clinton and the margin between the upper and middle classes wasn't so great. Bush has ****ed us over. What were gas prices under Clinton and Bush? Unemployment? The deficit? etc? Whoever gets elected will have to raise taxes. Bush has written a check that we have to cash and he will be out of office when that happens. Remember Bush Sr. and his "No new taxes" line? That didn't last long and Bush had to raise taxes because of Reagan's never ending defense costs. Star Wars? What a waste of time and money that was!

Oh yeah, and we never had to borrow money from the Chinese to give out $600 stimulus checks so we can pay for gas to further line the pockets of Bush's oil friends.

borrow it? they'll be getting it right back from any goods that people purchase...plus the loan. It's like they're betting and winning money plus their money back

Drunken sailors everywhere are insulted that they are compared to the US Congress so Ill just say you get rid of the Tax and Spenders in Congress and a lot of the problems go bye bye. Until then we will continue to get the bridge to nowhere, federal money for a Teapot museum from earmarks.

The president doesnt control the purse strings. The Congress does.

And no one in the media thinks Clinton was the best president ever, he is just head and shoulders above W.

Gas: When did India and China start increasing demand (thats about 1.8 billion people i think)?

The president (either party) doesnt control the purse strings. Congress does. They spend money like its all theirs and not ours. That is where the problem is.

Bush has been far from perfect but money spent by the people will ALWAYS outgrow/outproduce anything Congress can do. Too much redtape and waste in government.

And where was the economy when Bush took over, when the Enron's couldnt get away with cooking the books like they did for years before?

That's actually a myth. While nothing works in perfect academia equilibrium, the effect of a dollar spent elsewhere (especially with a place like China) is of virtual no negative impact to our economy and in the grand scheme of things, the majority of that dollar comes back in some form or another. I'd explain more but I had to suffer through enough semesters of economics.

The tax cuts though in general though are terrible policy IMO for the longterm economic future of the USA. And cutting the federal reserve? Don't get me started.

The scary thing is ALL, and I sincerely mean ALL of the remaining candidates, are going to continue to **** the economy over with their various proposed policies.

Both were far from great. Clinton was smart enough to just get out of the way of the economy and smart enough to reappoint Alan Greenspan.

IMO Cause Hillary choked this election away and gave the media a reason to dump on her .

    1. President still has to sign off on it.
    2. Biggest understatement of all-time.

When Bush took office, the economy was great. 9/11 changed that.

It ran out of steam toward the end of the Clinton administration, so much so thats why tax cuts were even discussed. The market was going down I think around Apr-May of 99 and the trend continued through the election and Florida. Arguably through i think Q2 2002-2003ish. My memory maybe just a bit off, I had some money invested at the time had to pull it early cause I needed it to pay for school.
