I heard on T.V. tonight that when Dubya was just starting his first term the average gas price was $1.10 per gallon. Also when he started his first term the average persons zsalary was 49,000 per year. Now the gas prices are in the mid to upper 3 dollar range and the average salary is $48,000. Don't make sense.

It is what it is. Recessions come, recessions go. Gas prices soar, they fall back down. Part of the problem for higher oil prices is that there is a shortage in refineries. The other big problem is the dollar. While the dollar is finally starting to show signs of coming around against the euro (its been rising against other currencies for awhile now) the speculators are driving up the cost of oil futures, which isnt driven by the big oil companies.
I dont think you quite understand how many different variables go into the cost of gasoline at the pump.

Mom bought gas this morning and it was at $3.67.
$3.95/gallon--regular unleaded. I guess my social schedule is going to get majorly reduced this summer. Cant afford to go anywhere.
