The Colts are rightfully the favored team and if my opinion wasn't tainted by what I want to see I'd probably pick them to win, but they won't win simply because "Peyton won't throw 6 picks again"
Crazy shit happened on that game for both teams.
Rivers doesn't gift wrap a free TD for them by dropping the ball in the endzone untouched and Vinaterri isn't even in line to miss a chip shot FG at the end of the game.
Rivers has been up and down all year but not even he is half as bad as he played that game.
People want to say "yeah, but I doubt Peyton plays that bad again."
I doubt Rivers plays that bad again...

The thing is, that's pretty much all Vince Young ever does, which seems to have been enough to have you crown him some kind of mastermind behind center before the game started. Because VY certainly never lights up the scoreboard.
Young doesn't but he leads his team to victories in more ways than one. Moreso than Rivers.
Quote:
The Chargers defense is one of the main reasons VY had a poor game.....and why you can't just blindly look at the caliber of QBs and proclaim who will win an NFL football game.
Young is the main reason he had a piss poor game. Young decisions and poor thorws were not just because of the Chragers. His throws were way off and sometimes way short. That's mostly on Young. You can go on QB matchups and made a damn good educated assumption on who is going to win.
Quote:
Technically you're right. On one of the scoring drives Rivers got the ball to the 1 yard line and LT punched in the last yard.
And of course the field goal.
Quote:
But going into the game you said the Titans would win because they had the better QB, which is it?
Young choked and we have been over this. The QB that played the worst lost. I thought that guy was going to be Rivers.
Quote:
But I thought the team with the better QB wins? Why give more credit to the defense? Is it or is it not a team sport?
Rivers played slightly better than Young which is why they won. Young choked and Rivers wasn't that great either. 10-6 in the 4th quarter proves that. Good job by both teams shutting down the run and not allowing teams to score. This doesn't change anything.
Quote:
He finally gained 42 total yards!
Yes he did and that was the biggest reason they broke away in the 4th.
Quote:
I never said that. I just said he didn't have a horrendous game and, more importantly, he wasn't the one responsible for the Chargers scores.
I wouldn't give Rivers as much credit for the 17 points if the touchdowns came after getting the ball back in their own red zone thanks to a VY interception.
I never said what you said either. Young did have a horrendous game. What game were you watching?
Quote:
I'm not being an asshole (or whatever the ****s blotted out) I'm simply trying to give credit where it's due and where you're trying to discredit.
I am giving credit where credit is due. The team with the QB that played better won.
Quote:
What does it matter how many starters were out? Your line of reasoning was "Vince Young > Philip Rivers, therefore you have to be dumb to think that the Chargers stand a chance"
Are you, again, telling me that this isn't really the case?
It matters a lot. Great Qb's are great no matter what. Young isn't close to that and we all know Rivers isn't either. Nothing you can say changing the fact that QB is the most important thing in football especially in the playoffs. Peyton Manning threw 6 INT's with Harrison, Clark and Gonzalez out of the game against the Chargers and still put his team in a position to win. Great QB's come through. Kickers not so much.
Please respond because I won't read it. Football smack is making me sick because it has become a watered down league and these playoffs will be one of the worst we have seen in a long time.

That was pretty much my point. Rivers didn't light up the scoreboard against Tennessee but he lead the Chargers to victory when it came down to crunch time.....but you choose not to credit him with that even though that's the type of QB play that lead you to inform me that VY is better than Rivers, even at 80 percent.

Sure, and you can do the same with a lot of other factors as well, such as who has a better defense, who has the better RB, etc etc etc.
But that's not what you did in this thread. You flat out asked "Does Leo really think they can win?" and then when I said yes you backed up your argument with (paraphrasing) "VY > Rivers, therefore the Chargers don't stand a chance"

I'm sure the Chargers were freely awarded the ball in field goal range to get it, a series of Rivers-to-Chambers passes had nothing to do with those 3 points, right?

But you told me the team who had the best QB wins. Tennessee has the best QB according to you and they lost.

The game is 4 quarters long! You can't just eliminate 1/4th of the game and say "Look at the numbers now, he wasn't so good was he?"
Rivers (and pretty much the entire Chargers offense) didn't do jack shit in the entire first half. But Rivers came out to play and did in the 2nd half and won the game for the Chargers.
I'm not saying Rivers had the greatest game in the world, but to say he didn't play good at all is a huge stretch....especially when you take into contention that LT only had 42 yards.

It's all right there for you. Every one of the Chargers scoring drives involves big plays from Rivers passing to someone and LT not running very far.

I guess you and I have different definitions of a "horrendous game"
To me that generally involves throwing some picks and being the direct or indirect cause of the opposing team scoring....of which VY was not.
He definitely didn't have a good game by any means.

No you're not, you're trying to argue that Rivers didn't have that good of a game which isn't true.

Just because it's the most important position doesn't mean it's the only one that matters.
If it was the only one that matters Trent Dilfer wouldn't have a Super Bowl ring.

Rivers helped put the Colts in position, but I digress.

If you read this you read it, if you don't I don't really care. But it's here for you if you want to.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
It's official, I don't know shit about football and I'm ok with that fact:) When a backup QB can beat you, Jesus Christ!!
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
(Rivers was beating them before he went down, anyways)
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
yeah the fact that hes completing 67.5% of his passes and near 600 yards this postseason is not a reason why he keep them in games.
But how does the damn Colts let Billy Volek, Michael Turner and Darren Sproles back in the game?
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
I should bookmark this thread so I can revisit it every time LTR tells me he's always right.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
No, I never admit when I'm wrong:rolleyes:

You're an idiot. The Titans and Chargers don't even play this year.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
oops, thats wht i thought the bet was for...but if they did! SD would win
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
That's what it was for, yes.
