Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood

I can answer that...the defense won. Rivers didn't play poorly but even some of his better throws were only OK, the one long one to Chambers I can remember he was wide open, if he leads him it's an easy TD but instead he was tackled because he underthrew him. It's a moot point as they scored on the drive but Rivers can still play better. And good coverage or not, there was no way he should have tried to throw that INT.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    Leo,
It was 10-6 in the 4th quarter and you are honestly going to tell me it was Rivers who won that game? Young didn't turn the ball over until the 4th you are correct but he made horrible throws and poor decisions all game long. Just because he only threw 1 INT doesn't mean he didn't have a horrible day.

I was wrong about the game but 100% right about QB's meaning everything. Manning didn't play well but Garcia played worse. Phillips didn't play well but Young was worse. When your QB sucks balls, you do not win. Chargers will find that out this weekend when they face the real Manning.

Take a journalism class or something to get these quotes down

Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood

Rivers is responsible for all of the Chargers scoring.

Who cares what the score was going into the 4th quarter? It's a 4 quarter game!

You're going to sit there with a straight face and tell me that he deserves no credit for the win just because Vince Young didn't play like Peyton Manning?

I guess you were right in the QB regard for this game, though. Philip Rivers played well, Vince Young did not, the Chargers won.

And please quit beating down the pointless crap about misreading one of your posts. It's completely besides the point and you know it.

And, for the record, I'm not pursuing the journalism degree, so there's no need for the flaming in regards to that.

And, for the record, if this thread were about the Colts game and you posted "Does Leo really think the Chargers will win?" as a response I would have shrugged it off and not responded because nobody really expects the Chargers to win this Sunday.

(That doesn't mean they can't, but it'll be tough for them to do so)

The Titans, on the other hand, were expected to lose by pretty much every sports pundit out there except love_that_reefer, who not only thought the Titans would win, but thought you'd be crazy to think otherwise.

David Garrard was 9 for 21 but is revered for his 32 yard run on 4th and 2. Yet Rivers had the best numbers yardage and YPA than any QB in the playoffs this weekend and he didn't win the game?!?! I may be a disgruntled Niners fan, but if you have that performance without an effective LT and AG. What else do you have to do?

LTR thinks that the Chargers were awarded a free 17 points because Vince Young didn't throw any touchdowns.

Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood

Rivers played good enough to win the game. The point of saying it was 10-6 was to say that no QB played great and in fact not one did. The game was anybody's at that point and Young choked instead of Rivers. I was wrong on that point. Young blew dick and a lot of emphasis has to put on that fact. Chargers defense did a good job but Young had a piss poor game. Rivers was not responsible for all the scoring so were wrong on that one. Was it just a coincidence that the Bucs and the Titans lost behind shitty QB's? No it wasn't. I give a lot more credit to the defense of the Chargers than to Rivers. Not to mention in that 4th quarter LT finally got the ball moving on a tired Titans defense.

Sorry if I get pissed about people misquoting me. Stop doing it and I'll quit bringing it up. No shit your degree is not in journalism or anything involving writing.

Leo thinks Young played a good game because he only threw one INT.

And for the record, Leo just stop being a *****. I was wrong about the game. Again, if I knew the Titans had four starters out on offense I wouldn't have bneen so confident. Chargers win and now will lose to the Colts because 1. they are the better team and 2. do not have Rivers as their starting QB.

I hate to be the one to start another war but didn't SD beat Indy with Rivers at QB this year already. I'm pretty sure Peyton remember Cromartie very well. Colts might have the more talented team but the Chargers match up well vs the Colts.

Good point Porter. Despite Manning throwing 6 ints, Colts lost because Vinatieri missing a 30-40 yard FG, also the game was in SD.
This game is going to be in Indy, and I dont see Manning throwing 6 ints again, also Harrison is healthy, so its going to be interesting.

I also don't see Rivers gift wrapping a free touchdown for the Colts again.

    It works both ways.

The thing is, that's pretty much all Vince Young ever does, which seems to have been enough to have you crown him some kind of mastermind behind center before the game started. Because VY certainly never lights up the scoreboard.

The Chargers defense is one of the main reasons VY had a poor game.....and why you can't just blindly look at the caliber of QBs and proclaim who will win an NFL football game.

Technically you're right. On one of the scoring drives Rivers got the ball to the 1 yard line and LT punched in the last yard.

But going into the game you said the Titans would win because they had the better QB, which is it?

But I thought the team with the better QB wins? Why give more credit to the defense? Is it or is it not a team sport?

He finally gained 42 total yards!

    Fair enough

I never said that. I just said he didn't have a horrendous game and, more importantly, he wasn't the one responsible for the Chargers scores.

I wouldn't give Rivers as much credit for the 17 points if the touchdowns came after getting the ball back in their own red zone thanks to a VY interception.

I'm not being an asshole (or whatever the ****s blotted out) I'm simply trying to give credit where it's due and where you're trying to discredit.

What does it matter how many starters were out? Your line of reasoning was "Vince Young > Philip Rivers, therefore you have to be dumb to think that the Chargers stand a chance"

Are you, again, telling me that this isn't really the case?

    We'll see.

They have a talented enough team to pull off the upset but it'll be tough.

Moreso because of 1 than 2, but it'll be really tough none-the-less.

Thats one negative for the Chargers, compared to three by the Colts. Even if Rivers doesn't throw an INT for return, Manning not throwing 6 ints, Vinatieri not missing a GW fg, and Marvin Harrison playing. I still see the Colts winning this game in a dog fight.
