Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
The playoffs are a different animal and not because people make it out to be. They are playing better teams than what they are used to and it means a shit ton more. Yes it is the same game with a lot more pressure. Anyone who has played in any type of big game can tell you that. Grossman played in a very weak NFC and had the games best defense behind them. He still didn't win anything and you know why? He played against a team with the best QB in the league. The 2000 playoff was one of the worst in NFL history. When you have Kerry Collins vs Trent Dilfer, anything can happen. 2000 is not 2007 where you have a lot better teams and QB's. What is the most important postion in all of football? What position has the most Super Bowl MVP's? Vince Young is a leader and has shown in throughout his college and pro career. He doesn't have good numbers just like Rivers but he is a leader. Playoff time, you don't want your QB choking and making mistakes. Norv Turner is also a joke of a coach and will be facing off against a very good coach in Jeff Fisher. When you asked, "but do you really think they can't win?" my answer should have been sure they could but I don't think they will and Rivers is the reason why. That would have ended this and then I wouldn't have had to read silly things about the 85Bears and the playoffs are just like any other game type shit.

So what makes the Titans in 2 days better than the Titans a few weeks ago when the Chargers beat them, thanks in part to a late 4th quarter comeback effort by Philip Rivers?

But his team beat a team with the 3rd best QB in the league to get there.
And why did it take "the best QB in the league" so many tries to even get there?
Could it be because the game is about more than just the quarterback?

That doesn't refute the facts that it was Kerry Collins and Trent Dilfer in the Super Bowl.

Just because it's the most important doesn't mean it's the only one that matters, nor does it mean that the team with the better QB will always win.

Oh, college accolades count? Philip Rivers is the MVP of 5 bowl games.

Fair enough. Norv was dealt a bad hand in Oakland where nobody could win, but his record wasn't that good even before that. (despite the fact that Washington still hasn't produced a better record than what Norv had his last full season with them.)

While you're right that you wouldn't have read examples that prove that the team with the best QB doesn't always win as you have countlessly suggested in this thread you're right that suggesting that it's just your simple opinion (as opposed to suggesting that I'm foolish for actually believing they can win) may have ended the conversation.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
Manning went up against guys like Brady and Big Ben. That's why it took him so long. QB's are the most important part and when they choke, your team doesn't win. If Rivers played in 5 Bowl Games, then NCAA should be investigating since it is against the rules. Rivers and Eli were overrated in college and now show their true colors. I expect two scores from the Titans defense thanks to Rivers sucking balls and choking under pressure. Bad QB+terrible coach=no soup for you.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
Rivers was MVP of only 4 bowl games, not 5, obviously.

Sorry, but I just have to dispute your cherrypicking Norv's best season just because he happened to finish out that particular season. You failed to mention that during his actual last season the Redskins were 7-6 and on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention (in other words, they were done) when he was fired.

And one of those Bowl games was the ****ing Senior Bowl. Rivers isn't that good and isn't a leader and that's why I think they will lose in the playoffs this weekend and if they happen to win, it will be their only one.

He played in five, but I just looked it up and he was only MVP of 3 of the "real" bowls games. (ie, not the Senior Bowl) MVP of 4 bowls if you include the Senior Bowl.
That's what I get for parroting other fans instead of looking up info myself.
Still doesn't change the general point, however.

Does "full season" mean something else in your dictionary?

For an NFL head coach to not last through a "full season", he must have resigned or been fired. Norv was fired, and for a legitimate reason, too. His team had dropped 4 of their last 5 games and didn't have any momentum to pull 3 straight wins out their asses just to get to 10-6.

That doesn't change the fact that I posted.
Re: Bet between BuckFoston and Hwood
That's up to you to cherrypick which season bests supports your defense of Norv's job in Washington.

I simply posted a fact, is all.
Read into the fact however you choose.
I believe I started the statement by pointing out how his record wasn't all that pretty before hand and posted that fact starting with "despite..."
